When Lucas was close enough to see Jenny, he noticed that she was attempting to slam herself against the cell. He frowned, running over to her. What was she thinking? If she kept this up, he'd be forced to detain her. And that wasn't what he had signed up for. He pressed a button, allowing for them to hear each other through the walls. "Jenny, what's wrong?"
-
She didn't know what to say, or even if he'd listen. She never talked, so would he take her seriously when she finally did? She let out a nervous huff and stared at him. His identification pass probably wouldn't work for her cell anymore, either.
-
Lucas stared intently at the girl- no, woman- he had been close to for a while. His eyes showed his concern for her well being. He kept his finger pressed firmly to the button in case he'd be able to get any information out of her. He couldn't bear to see Jenny in such a state. Just seeing her be so mute made him think that something bad had happened.
-
She eventually scooted back to the back wall, waiting for him to leave and hoping for the best. Maybe he'd leave the building itself and wouldn't be stuck in the mess.
-
Lucas tilted his head, slowly moving his finger away from the button. He glanced behind himself, then looked at the vampires. Was there something wrong with them and not him? He looked back to her, frowning deeper. He entered, unequipped and defenseless. "..Just what are you getting at, silly?"
-
"Just... don't try to take care of anyone else today." Her voice cracked at the end of the statement due to nearly two years of silence. She covered her mouth with her hands, surprised that she'd said something.
-
Lucas blinked, staring at her. He wasn't sure what shocked him most- her message or the fact that she had talked. He decided that both had an equal amount of 'holy s---' and shook his head. "..Do you prefer me being here, or is something going on that you probably won't tell me?"
-
She returned to silence, watching him worriedly. He needed to go home to his family. He had a family, didn't he? He had to.
-
Lucas stared at her, a serious expression. He needed to know what she knew. If this was something serious, he wanted to be in on it. "I have all day and night, Jenny. I can easily go against your wishes. It'd be easy if you'd just tell me what's going on in that head of yours. I want to hear you." He tried to sound nice about it, but on the inside, he was worried.
-
She shook her head. Telling meant that she couldn't escape the lab, and if the other vampires figured out she was the one to ruin everything, they'd make her pay for it, somehow. Her arms wrapped around her knees, pulling them up against her chest.
-
Lucas sighed, walking closer to her. If she didn't want to talk, he couldn't help it. No, he didn't want to at all. If it was something big, he'd just have to include himself into it on his own. He sat down in front of her. "Alright. Tell me, what's your favorite color?"
-
Really, he just needed to go home. Jenny was about to hiss at him, but was interrupt by screaming down the hallway. The lights above each cell door began to flash bright red, signaling that each one had been automatically unlocked. She leapt to her feet as the others fled from their cells, probably hoping to get a bit of revenge.
-
Lucas's eyes flickered to the cells, his eyes wide in fear. What idiot had opened the door? He looked at Jenny, then looked at the door. He didn't know her intentions because she hadn't ever said a word until just now. He ran for the door, deciding that it'd be best for him to rescue a few people if possible.
-
She followed behind him, knowing that it wouldn't go well for him if he was caught up in the chaos. Jenny stopped to pull a vampire off of one of the nurses so he could escape, then followed after Lucas again.
