The year is 2547. Humans have had proof of vampires existing for roughly 130 years, and have learned to coexist with them in human cities and in their own vampire communities. However, affairs stretching anywhere beyond business work are seriously looked down on, and rights such as marriage are not allowed. A vampire found guilty of biting and drinking from a human will be put to death. However, in the past year or two, the amount of attacks has skyrocketed, and vampire venom found in water sources has increased, causing humans to turn frequently. In order to prevent further spread, vampires are being hunted down and forced into heavily monitored areas, or killed if they resist. Human scientists are also working on a cure to reverse the transformation, and holding vampires to experiment on. Many of these vampires are among the oldest, and most likely to attack humans, making them excellent choices to test on. The Pemvair Corporation is one of the most successful so far, though it's murdered many vampires in the process.
Everything changes, though, one day, when a few of Pemvair's vampires break loose. Those few unleash the others, who go about attacking their captors and escape into the outside world. It seems that with these beasts free in the world, the outbreak has escalated into a full apocalypse.
[A] has been working at Pemvair for as long as the outbreak has been a problem, caring for the vampires and occasionally testing a dose of the cure on them. [B], one of the youngest vampires there, has been one of the only ones to respond, though silently, without protest to Pemvair's treatment. When the vampires start to escape, she's quick to hunt down [A] and protect him. The two head to the streets with a blood pact: she'll aid him in curing and bringing down any of the attacking vampires, at the price of him letting her have some of his blood whenever she requires it.

The ward was rarely quiet at night. Many of them, grown accustomed to the night due to dislike of the sun, would become active, watching as humans passed hungrily or pacing their cells. Some would wait patiently, then pounce as the nurses walked past, slamming themselves against the glass and sliding down to the floor in defeat. She was one of the only ones to remain silent. Jenny could barely remember the last time she'd spoken, let alone the last time she'd spoken to a human. The one that always tended to her didn't seem to need her to talk, and that was what she preferred. She recalled that the closest she'd gotten had been a soft, agitated hiss, when one of the vaccination needles hadn't been pushed in correctly.
She sat now on the floor, her knees brought up to her chest, staring out of the glass wall separating her from the humans. She rested her chin on her knees, and waited. Her human nurse would probably arrive soon. -
Lucas trudged through the halls, ignoring all of the vampires that would try to attack him or harm him. Tonight, for whatever reason, he felt drained of energy. And he wasn't in the best mood for all of the ones he wasn't taking care of. However, he felt a sense of relief as soon as he saw her cell. Perhaps the idea of being allowed to take the calmer vampire made him feel less stressed out. Besides, he had gotten permission to just sit and chat with her. (Or rather, talk to her.) That's what he had always wanted. Sure, he's talk to her while taking her blood or giving her medication and things, but it was usually things that were only to soothe her. Today he had left all of the normally rquired things behind just to be able to prove he was being peaceful.
As he appeared in felt of her cage, he peered into it, giving her a goofy smile. Unlike all of the other vampires, her calmness let him go into the cage without much trouble. He unlocked the seal, walking into the room. The door shut behind him. He walked over to her, plopping down right in front of her. "Hello." -
Jenny blinked twice at him, completely silent. This nurse was always so enthusiastic, compared to the others. It was kind of nice, how he treated her more like a person and less like a test subject. She remembered the time he hadn't been able to be her nurse, probably because he'd been sick (or, at least, he smelled a little sick when he came back). She'd been tempted to bite at the replacement nurse, due to how she'd treated her. She wondered how many of the other vampires were treated this way, if any at all. She felt herself involuntarily smile a bit.
