Lucas watched her with shining eyes. He felt safe being with Jenny. He also felt like a missing part of him was filled up whenever he was near her. She was like family.
Upon hearing the intercom, he sighed heavily, smiling gently at her. "Sorry, Jen. Looks like I've got to leave." Looks like I've got to go home. He wasn't really sure where home was. Sure, he lived somewhere, but that wasn't home. He wanted someone to live with. Someone to care about him. His mother had rejected him after he became a scientist. The whereabouts of the rest of his family was unknown. He wished that he could stay in Jenny's cell with her forever. -
She sighed and scooted back again, watching him leave with eyes full of disappointment. If only she could leave with her human, instead of being trapped in her cell. First chance she got, she'd escape this place, whether she could find him afterward or not.

The immortal stayed up the entire night. Even if she had wanted to sleep (which she was too worried about Lucas to do so), the others' conversation kept her up. She could hear the soft hissing of the other vampires' words through the walls around her, all of them plans to attack their caretakers. She listened intently, surprised by how long the plan had probably been meditated upon.
The next morning, Jenny sat near the door to her cell, waiting patiently for her nurse. She wasn't surprised when someone other than Lucas came to take care of her for the morning. -
(If I'm not going in the direction you wanted, let me know.)
Lucas had slept in later than usual, unable to move well due to the fact that he had an earsplitting headache that refused to go away. He had called in telling them that he'd make up the time by going in mid-afternoon and taking care of her for a few extra shifts. He felt bad that he hadn't been able to take care of her this morning, and he prayed that the nurse that was taking care of her was nicer than the rest of the lot.
When he was finally able to move around, the first thing he did was stumble- almost drunkenly- to his clock. He realized that he hadn't slept in as much as he thought he did. Even though his head still hurt, he figured that he could possibly watch the other nurse take care of Jenny, or he could take care of another vampire. Though, he doubted that any of the other caretakers had called in sick. Most of them were always eager to ruin the other vampires' lives. -
(Idc man as long as she can find him when they break out)
The nurse stood for a minute or so at the door. Having Jenny so close to the door, but not trying to attack, made her uneasy. The vampire glanced at her ID and noticed that the nurse's name was Mary, and that she rarely dealt with the specimens in person. Jenny hissed at the nurse as she opened the door, then backed away as if intimidated, still snarling. -
(Okay)
Before Lucas could move another inch, he fell backwards, a startled yelp escaping his lips. He had lost focus and almost tripped over something on the floor- a spare shoe. "I guess I defied gravity.." He stayed there on the floor until his back started to hurt from laying in such an odd position. He had to roll away from the shoe and push himself up. He felt drained. -
She fought with the nurse the entire time, eventually reaching the point that the woman was going to call in another nurse. They all seemed to expect Jenny to be nonchalant, or at the least, emotionless, so her actions were startling. She was tempted to steal her identification and hunt down her real nurse, but gradually settled down and let Mary take a blood sample.
-
After a while longer of standing there, Lucas finally started to get his day- or rather, afternoon- into gear. He lazily undressed himself, got new clothes on, and trotted towards the kitchen. He had to get some sort of food inside of him, no matter how hungry or not hungry he was. He grabbed an apple, eating it with a blank expression. What if I had to hunt for this apple? Would it be a lot funner..? What is it like, being a vampire? If they were free, would they hunt for it? How fast are they when hunting? Is prey tastier than this? So many questions fluttered through his head. He'd have to ask Jenny.. If she'd answer any of his questions other than the yes or no ones, that is.
-
When the nurse finally left, Jenny returned to waiting for her Lucas. She sat by the outer glass wall, watching hopefully but expecting the worst. For all she knew, he'd been fired.
-
Once Lucas had finished his apple, he tossed the core in the trash and grabbed his coat. He pulled it on, heading out into the open. He fast walked all the way to the lab, unable to get to his car because it was currently being repaired due to vandalism.
When he reached the lab, he threw open the door, a small smile on his face. There was nothing else that could bring him joy other than seeing all of the other vampires and learning from them. He walked towards Jenny's enclosed space, ignoring the stares and glares he got from both vampires and nurses alike. -
Thanks to the tiny holes at the top of the glass, she could smell him as he entered her hall. Jenny watched him come nearer, then remembered the planned rebellion. Almost forgetting the wall a foot or two in front of her, she threw heft forward--and sunk down after slamming against the surface with a soft thud.
