Lucas blinked. She was smiling. Not big, but.. Smiling. The small act was enough to make him extremely happy. The other vampires weren't this nice at all. He shuddered just thinking about how horrible it would be to deal with one of them. The doctor was lucky to be placed with Jenny. He liked her company. And he was positive that she liked his. He held out his hand, offering her the chance of shaking hands with him. "It's nice to see you again. I hope you're doing okay."
-
He smelled exhausted, and she wondered, for a moment, why he was bothering to spend this extra time with her. Didn't he have a family? It seemed like humans usually had families. She stared at his hand, not bothering to shake it. She heard another vampire screech out in anger in another cell. The others were so... emotionally responsive.
-
He pulled his hand back, the grin flickering to a small smile. He sprawled himself out onto the floor, staring at her. "We're going to have the best time today. I got permission to leave everything behind, so I can just.. Chat with you." He closed his eyes, folding his hands behind his head. "I don't know what you'd want me to talk about, but I can talk about anything. You don't have to tell me, though. I know you don't like speaking. Heck, I don't think I've ever heard you before! Only that one time when I missed the spot I was aiming for with the needle.. That was kinda my fault."
-
She watched him closely, surprised at how relaxed he was. He should've known how easy it was for a vampire to attack their nurse, even when weakened by being fed only animal blood. Despite this, he made himself fully vulnerable. She let go of her legs and crossed them, her hands resting in her lap. It was kind of cute how much she trusted him. Innocent, in a way, too.
-
He opened his eyes, rolling onto his stomach. He put his hands in his head. "I hope I'm not boring you. I've been told by the other nurses that I talk too much. But you've never complained, so I always thought that maybe you were so quiet because you were so busy trying to take in everything I'm saying. I know, it's silly of me to be thinking about something sooooo trival, but.. Have you ever thought about it?"
-
Jenny shrugged. He did talk too much. Then again, he made up for her silence. She wondered if he wished he'd been assigned to one of the vampires that talked more. Sure, they really only talked about how greatly they wanted to kill the humans they'd been imprisoned by, but at least there was a possibility for conversation.
-
"I see.. Well, enough about that." He stretched himself out, sighing. "So, I don't know what you want me to talk about, so I'll throw out a topic. Do you want me to tell you anything about the outside world? Thumbs up for yes, thumbs down for no."
(And while Lucas is asking
What is the world like anyways) -
(Controlled, at this point. Technology was pretty advanced until the outbreak, when things had to be put on hold. You can't really trust that anyone hasn't been infected, and are expected to report anyone you suspect has been. Vampires not yet caught are considered threats, and hiding or helping a vampire instead of reporting it is a federal crime. Feel free to add, that's just what I came up with.)
She laid down in front of him, meeting him face to face. She was curious how trusting he was, and was willing to test him. She stared at the human, scrutinizing every aspect of him.
(Also the venom comes from a little barb under the tongue that can extend at will and puncture skin while a vampire is drinking.) -
(Alright.)
Lucas blinked at her action, but happily have her a warm smile. Although he hadn't been expecting for her to actually get that close to him, he didn't mind. He enjoyed her company. And he was curious to see what she was going. He crossed his arms, yawning slightly. "Do I have something on my face, dear?" He tilted his head, staring at her.
(okie) -
Her face twisted up into a snarl, exposing her fangs. She forced out the venom barb under her tongue, and widened her bright, yellow eyes. She raised herself up a little, so she was just a bit above him. This would be the second time he'd ever heard any noise from her. Jenny didn't actually want to attack, but was curious about how he'd respond.
-
At first, he felt a small pang of fear. Would she really attack him?He had been prepared to move away. But then he noticed the minor mistake she made. She seemed to hesitate at her last move, and her movements were too slow to be her attacking. Lucas let out a laugh, a grin on his face. "Y-You gave me a small scare, but c'mon Jen, I know you wouldn't do that. You look silly. But.. In a nice way." He sat up, being careful to avoid knocking his own head into hers.
-
Jenny sat up as well and scooted back. He hadn't been as quick to move away as she expected he would, nor had he tried to defend himself. Now knowing that information, she gave him a thumbs up, seemingly more interested in what he had to say.
(Also, I have a feeling that they live in a community centered on choosing work in the early teenage years, allowing them to start careers like his at 17 or 18.) -
Lucas smiled when she gave him a thumbs up. He put his head in his hands, humming. "Hmm.. Well, it's gotten kinda bad. It's not like it's boring out there, but.. The trust in vampires that people used to have.. It's totally broken. Demolished. According to the higher ups, we're not allowed to trust anyone, because who knows who's been infected? Although I wouldn't mind, it's like.. Anyone can be seen dangerous and anyone can be thrown into cages. I disagree.. So, so much. Just because a small handful did things.. It doesn't mean all of you are bad. And you all used to be humans. It's like they've forgotten that fact. I'm disappointed in humanity." He sighed, shaking his head. "At least they still have fun places like amusement parks and bars."
(owo wow) -
She nodded, contemplating what he'd said. He was right, about her being human forever ago. But what made a vampire bad? Was it drinking human blood? That was a necessary part of being a vampire. It was required to survive.
-
"..Actually, there shouldn't even be a classification between good and bad." Lucas frowned, nibbling on his nail. He started to bite it off, gazing at Jenny. He took a minute to demolish it and spit it out into an old Kleenex. "It's not your species's fault that you need blood. I guess.. The way that they tried to take it made the higher ups upset. Or maybe it made them want to piss their pants. Either way, I wish that we could live in harmony again. And that.. We could have special bonds with them. Would you like that, Jen?" He looked into her eyes.
