He sighed and waited for her to get out if the room, checking his watch, he noticed soon that he would have to leave. One of the other maids came up to him. She had long blonde hair, bright grey eyes, and pale skin against her uniform. He looked at her. "I need to get to a meeting, could you please show Maria what she needs to do?" the maid nodded and smiled sincerely. "Yes sir." He nodded and walked off quickly, leaving through the front door. The girl waited patiently for Maria.
-
Maria changed as quickly as she could, dragged her fingers through her tangled hair, and pulled open the door. She rubbed her eyes, seeing a blonde woman standing outside.
-
The woman smiled at her. "Hi, I'm Brenda, one of Master Wolfe's servents. He was going to show you what you needed to do for today, but he had to go into town for a business call. If you would follow me I can show you where you'll be working." She started walking. "Master Wolfe has a total of, since you came here, five servents under his order. He's a nice man, the media just makes him look vicious."
-
"Yeah, that and the fangs." Maria muttered to herself. Nevertheless, she followed Brenda, eager to be in the company of another human being. "I'm Maria." She introduced herself with a slight smile.
-
Brenda looked at her. "Master Wolfe informed me of your name before he left..." she smiled back at her. "But I'm glad there is another female here. We get a three day vacation with pay, he lets us all leave at once so he can have the manor to himself. Usually...one of us stays with him and keeps him company, but this time we thought he could take care of himself." She walked into a dining room with china cabnets and a long table with ornated chairs along with it. "You will be helping me clean the dining hall today." She grabbed a broom and a dust pan, holding it out to her. "I'll handle the cabnets."
-
Maria nodded. "So are the other workers all boys then?" She asked, attempting to start a conversation. She reached out and took the supplies from Brenda, following her into the dining hall.
-
Brenda nodded and walked to the cabnets, opening the doors. "Master Wolfe saved them from a vampire auction. They are all three brothers, sweet boys. Me..." she pulled up her pant leg and a long jagged scar was on her leg. "I was a demon's play thing until Master Wolfe killed him. I owe him that." She started cleaning off the windows. "Just start sweeping anywhere. If you have to move anything I'll help you."
-
Maria nodded, pretty surprised by all the sudden news about 'Master Wolfe' and his kindness. She began sweeping on one side of the room, pausing every so often to sweep the gathered dust into the dustpan. "He didn't seem like that at all yesterday..." She murmured, remembering his harsh tone and cold glare.
-
She looked at her with a kind face. "That is a facade. If someone found out he had a soft spot for humans he would be executed and the Wolfe family would be no more. He puts on that mask in public and tries to save humans when he can, but lately other police officers have been taking the other humans he saved and putting them into dangerous homes. He found my sister...but she was given to a vampire and her body was found three days later..." she went silent for a moment and kept washing the window of the cabnet.
-
Maria kept stepping, but glanced up at the other servant. "I'm sorry. About you're sister." She did feel for Brenda, having had her own experience with the vampires. But she still couldn't picture him as anything but a monster. She'd believe it when she saw it.she twisted to brush the dust out from between two cabinets.
-
Brenda sighed. "It's...okay. My sister is free from this world." She looked at her. "You don't believe me about how kind Master Wolfe is...do you?" She sighed lightly and smiled. "You'll see his kindness soon enough, but maybe after the full moon or before only you can decide that."
-
"I'll believe it when I see it." Maria repeated, this time out loud. "Maybe I'll see him when he gets back from his business call though." She offered, getting rid of the last of the dust in the room. "What should I do next?"
-
Brenda nodded and pointed to the other china cabinets. "You could help me clean the other cabinets? I'm slow at this still. " she then went back to cleaning the windows on her first cabinet.
-
"Alright," Maria quipped, grabbing a cloth and a bit of the cleaning spray and carefully beginning to help Brenda wipe the spots from the cabinet doors. The silence was deafening, so she broke it with another question. "Where do you think Seba- er...Master Wolfe went?" She inquired. It was rather degrading, having to call him that, but Brenda had done it without hesitation, so she would just have to get used to it.
-
She paused for a moment and sighed. "He had to have a meeting with a few other werewolf families. They were doing illegal business and he's doing a sting operation to get them to confess. He'll be back after our four hour mark." She chuckled lightly. "You'll get used to calling him that. It took me a while to get used to it. There was a girl here before you, me and her never got along. She was killed by a shadow demon that was trying to kill Master Wolfe. He thought it was him."
