Lexi loveheart NewbieKayla stood at the back of the room not wanting to sit. The words of the coach kept running through her mind Grate I'm the only stretch in history to ever get sidekick, I'm officially the lamest person ever. Well at least after school I don't have to do anything, so I can do nothing on my computer.
-
The clock on the wall ticked down to oblivion; a tacky raspberry shaped thing that no respectable person would buy for themselves. You could only get clocks like that as a joke gift. Emily sat, forever grinning, as the principal paced in front of her; an old wooden desk the only thing separating them.
"Fourteen counts of property damage, three people in the medical wing, four counts of theft, one count of attempted social upheaval and two separate counts of unlawful power usage. And for what, Miss Light? Why?"
Emily ignored her, "To be fair, when you have a power like mine, it's bound to break out occasionally."
"You have just as much control over your power as I do, Miss Light, that's no excuse. And it is also not what we're talking about here." The principal said, pulling a spreadsheet out of her desk drawer. "This is hardly the first problem we've had with you, Emily. Do you know what it is we do here, Miss Light?"
Throwing herself up, Emily slammed her hands on the desk; knocking over a cup of pencils from the the force, "Stop calling me Miss Light. Miss Light is my mothers name."
The former teacher never missed a beat, "I apologize, Emily. I'm to understand your mother is a personal issue? I shall note it for future reference. But for now, do you know what it is we do here at Sky High, Emily?" -
Tobi conversed with his friends. The teacher hasn't showed up yet. He wondered why. Tobi saw Kayla alone and stood up by her. He took out his phone and started surfing the web. "Sooo.. Your power is pretty cool."
-
Lexi loveheart Newbie"Yeah for a sidekick I bet it is." she said bitterly. As long as he doesn't bring up anything about parents I should be good...Hopefully.
-
"Pff. Don't be like that. My power is lamer than yours." He said while looking at his phone, tapping his fingers in the screen.
-
Lexi loveheart NewbieShe looked over at him. "And your power is?"
-
Tobi paused for a moment. His eyes glowed a white color and sparks flew from them. He lifted up his hand and electricity formed a ball, floating above it. "This is pretty much it. Pretty lame."
-
Lexi loveheart Newbie"Are you serious," She put a slight smile on her face. "That's pretty cool." She slunk back onto the wall, she pulled her hood and hid under the hood, she closed her eyes and waited.
-
His eyes stopped glowling and the electricity levitated above his hand. He moved his hand from under it and pushed it with his fingers. The ball slowly decreased in size and dissapeared leaving a small spark. "Oh. I have to show you something fun during lunch break." He looked back at Kayla who seemed to of hid her face.
-
Lexi loveheart Newbie"Okay," She rested her head on the wall. "Is he normally this late?" Kayla hadn't forgotten that her phone went off when she was in the gym. She just didn't want to answer it mainly because her mother would think she was doing something in class and her dad would to hopefully, and her 'friends' hadn't talked to her in a month.
-
Shrugging, Emily pulled out her phone. There were six unanswered calls in the time she'd spent talking to the principal alone. Man, it wasn't easy being popular. Fiddling with the buttons, Emily shrugged, "It's a school. You teach math and things, what am I missing?"
"If you think all we do is 'teach math and things,' clearly you haven't been paying attention." Powers said, reaching down and plucking Emily's phone from her hands, "Not that I seriously expected you to."
Power's arms crossed as she sat down, "We make heroes here, Emily. We train teenagers to fully unlock their full potential, so that they can one day use their powers for good."
"Unless they're a sidekick," Emily said quietly, but was ignored by Powers.
"And if reckless destruction, endangerment of innocents and a fiery temper are what you consider fun, you are not a hero, Emily. And I will not have you in my school, and I will not help to further the powers of anyone who does not consider themselves a hero." Powers said.
Hands flew into the air instantly, as if Emily was trying to stop a train. "Wow wow wow, slow down. Are you talking about," Emily swallowed nervously, "expulsion?" -
Lexi loveheart NewbieA man came barging in the room. Kayla pulled up her hood so she could see. The man was short from where she was but she could tell he was pretty tall, he wore blue shorts and a white sweater, and a baseball cap "Which two pares volunteer to go first?" He looked around the room. "No one? Okay lets see then." He scanned the room once more looking into every single face.

(I just realized I haven't been writing out Emily's accent in the slightest. Woops.)
"If it comes to that. I would rather we both figure out a way to put a stop these 'pranks' of yours."
Emily opened her mouth to protest, when the swinging door caught her off guard. The very presence of the man who entered caused her to pull herself up into her seat and sit straighter. Her hands crossed themselves in her lap and she stared straight ahead as the man sat down. He was a well toned man, one that understood the limits of the human body, and he filled his off brown suit well. A darker brown tie had taken residence around his neck, framed against his white undershirt. His eyes were focused, and his hair was cut short and sensible. Without a word, he sat down and placed his hands on his knees.
The principal nodded. "Mr Light."
The man interrupted, "Mr Barrett. Walter. I have never been called Mr Light."
Powers nodded again, "I apologize, Barrett. Let us take the most direct root towards our purpose here. Emily here has misbehaved again. Usually we wouldn't bother bringing you here, but this is an exceptional circumstance."
Barrett showed no emotion, "Is it?"
Emily seemed to shrink into her seat as Powers began to explain the situation. A parade of thoughts went through her head, but all of them focused on the same premise. 'I really wish I was anywhere but here right now.' -
Lexi loveheart Newbie(Hey, anyone on?)
-
(Bump.)
"...and that just about finishes the list. As you can see, Mr Barrett, Emily is quite the troubled child. This is hardly the first time she's acted out, seemingly for no reason."
There was a brief moment of silence, before Barrett nodded, "You can have my assurance that she will punished and disciplined for her behavior."
The principal raised an eyebrow, but turned to Emily instead. Emily couldn't keep her eye contact though, and quickly broke away. "Would you mind leaving the room for a second while I talk to your father, Emily?"
She didn't even need to give a response. Wood slid against wood as she shoved the chair away. Before the door slammed closed, Emily was given one last glimpse at her dad; cold and powerful, before he vanished behind the door. Wordlessly, Emily placed her hands in her pockets and took a seat in the hall. All she could do now was wait.
