Tobi raised his hand eagerly and waved it around like child. "Ooh me me." He wrapped a hand around Kayla and pulled her closer to him. "/we/ volunteer!/" he didn't care if Kayla might react in an unpleasant way. He just wanted her to try to have fun and break from her personal space bubble.

Lexi loveheart NewbieRight now Kayla was uncomfortable in many ways, 1) How close she was to Tobi, not a fan of that, 2) The amount of eyes that had shifted over to them as he started to speak made it hard to shift away or even talk at this moment, so Kayla stood in shock. She shook herself out of it, "Tobi, t-t-that's really not necessary." She managed to croak. but she didn't think anyone heard her comment.

When she moved away, he instead put his hand on his hip. "Perfect. You two will start. This is the partnership Class. You will study your partner. You will answer questions about your partner, and you will FIGHT with your partner. We switch these partners up usually to see who your compatible sidekick would be for the year. Maybe even, your super hero career."
The teacher clicked a button.
Suddenly the room shook a bit. It started to expand and turn into what looked like an arena. "First for the heck of it, were gonna fight first!" He said holding a remote. -
You can tell a lot from a tapping foot. You can tell if someone is in a hurry, if someone is bored, if someone is distracted by music, if someone is angry, or impatient, or even flirty. And from Emily's tapping foot, you could tell it was nearly all of the above.
The floor shook slightly, and Emily grinned at the implications; before her attention was grabbed by the opening door. "Thank you for you time, Barrett. I understand it's not always east to give out."
Barrett simply flashed a smile; teeth so white they'd blind you, "Hey, I've learned from experience that if someone in a flying car asks you to come with them, you accept. Anyway goodbye, Mrs Powers."
With pleasantries exchanged, Powers closed the door, and Barrett turned to his daughter. "What's your excuse this time?" He asked, perfectly calm, but like he was following a routine.
"Where ez Derek?" Emily asked. Her accent was starting to show again, but she'd learned it was nothing to be embarrassed about by this point.
"At work. Where I should be." Barrett said, before extending a hand down to Emily, "We need to talk, Emily." -
Lexi loveheart NewbieKayla bit her lip to hold back a smile but it didn't work. She bit s her lip so hard her lip started to bleed, and the rustic taste of blood filled her mouth. "Fighting, eh." She didn't mean for it to slip but it did." Sounds...Fun" She smiled. She wasn't sure who'd be shocked at her sudden talking, but it didn't phase her this seamed like a fun challenge... Hopefully.

Toby patted her back if a friendly manner. "Ah yeah! The team match in the house!" He pumped one fist in the air while grinning. He took a step closer to the teacher. "So. Who are we up against." He gestured his hands to himself and Emily. The teacher pressed the button. When he did about 10 robots fell from the ceiling. About 6 feet tall. Tobi stepped back a bit.
"These! A senior, Technoboy, made a lot of these for me! Aren't they great? Eh, Bobby! Give these two the suits." Bobby took a moment to grab what looked like black morphing suits, with orange lines that make it look like a skeleton suit and walked to Kayla and Tobi, giving it to them. "Put these on. They'll protect your body from burns. Oh. Did I forget to mention these things can breath fire?" When he said that one of the robots shot flames from its mouth. "Just, don't die. Okay?"
Tobi looked at the teacher like he was crazy. "Seriously?? Gah. Whatever." The white haired teen took off his headphones, jacket, and belt. Then it on. Loudly zipping it up. After that he walked over to his backpack and took out a round metal plate. -
Lexi loveheart NewbieKayla ripped suit out of the guys hand she unzipped her sweater and threw it over at her bag. She pulled it on and zipped it up she fixed it so her boots were over the suit. She shook her head so her hair was behind her shoulders. "Bring it." She said with a smirk.

Tobi came back with the plate. "Ready!" He smirked as well, eyes starting to glow. "That's the spirit!" The teacher pressed another button.
"Go!"
Two of the robots charged at Tobi and Kayla. Electricity surged from Tobi's hand, and in to the metal. He through the plate as if it was an electric frisbee at the robot that came his way. The robot was shocked out and flew back from the impact. -
Lexi loveheart NewbieKayla wasn't sure what she was going to do, she was just going to fight. She ran towards the robots. She grabbed the arm and the robot did the same. She flipped forwards and kicked the robots head it crashed to the ground and she stood on it's back. She realized her hands were still holding onto the robots hands. She stretched her arms out tell the robots snapped. She pulled them back in, the robots hands let go and turned into blades. She stepped on the head, she bent her legs and jumped high in the air, then through the arms in the back of the robot. She hit the ground with a light thud. She stepped back. "Well that was fun, who's next?"

It always felt weird walking through an empty school hallway. More so this time, since Emily really didn't want to talk about...anything really. She'd much prefer to just get back to class. But the man next to her was smart, and she knew that, and she knew he'd eventually win in the end.
"What are the three rules we laid out, Emily?" Barrett asked.
"I want te talk te Derek."
"Come on."
Emily sighed. "Rule One. I will learn to speak Eenglish before the school year starts."
"Yes. And you've done very well with that. Just need to focus on your V's."
"Rule Two. I will not use my powers. Period."
"Yes. And you've done good with that too. Of course, it's not easy to find a practical use for them anyway." Barrett said.
Emily just licked her lips, "And rule three. I will geet good grades. In return, you won't mofe me back to Caracas."
The doors leading outside offered little resistance as the two walked into the light. The grass sunk them into the ground as they walked, and Barrett continued to talk. "And that's where we're having difficulties."
There was a car sitting at the edge of the platform. It was black, and clearly designed so that it wouldn't attract attention when driving on the ground. A man waited there for the duo to arrive, but time was on their side. -
"Damn, girl!" Tobi said to her and gave her a fist bump. "Nice job kids! Now for some more." He sent two more robots after them. Tobi ran up to one o them and grabbed its head. Electricity surged in to its head and caused its head to explode. Then he threw it aside.

If Barrett had been a less prideful man, he might have crouched down to look Emily in the eyes. As he was though, the most he could do was simply look down. "Look, Emily; I'm not saying you need to change overnight. Things like improvement take time, I understand that. But these...panic attacks, for lack of a better word, need to stop. At least while I'm working."
Emily broke her eye contact, but Barrett kept talking, "Can you promise you will at least try to be better behaved? No more sending people to the medical bay."
Silence reigned for a second, before Emily nodded.
"That's my girl. Here, take this, get Derek to buy you something after school. And remember, you're a great kid; you just have a few kinks like everyone else. Any parent should be proud to have you." Barrett said, slipping an indiscriminate amount of paper money into Emily's hands before breaking away and heading towards the car. Emily waited for a moment as a deep humming filled her ears, and the car sped off into the distance.
Scowling to herself, Emily turned around. She felt empty, and a little angry, but Barrett probably knew that. He always picked his words so carefully, so that he never told a lie but never told what he actually felt. Emily knew how he felt though. It was how everyone felt, behind their fake smiles. But it was fine, it was all fine. Emily knew the secret to happiness, and she wasn't going to let anyone else get her down.
Counting her money, Emily skipped back to class. -
Lexi loveheart NoviceKayla stood and waited for it to come to her she wanted to see if it had an actual good fighting skill. It came at her faster than the other one did once it got pretty close it breathed fire at her. She ducked. "Wow forgot about that," She stuck out her leg an whipped around. "Look out, buddy." She teased. She stood up. The robot stood, too. It grabbed on to her shoulders, she extended her arm to reach the robots shoulders she put her wait on the robot and jumped she kicked the robot and it flew back about three- four meters. The arms broke off and turned into blades in front of her face. She through one at the robot, to distract it. Then she ran up a bit closer and through it at the face of the face. Some sparks flew out and it fell to the ground. She backed up and she felt something behind her. She turned around.

This time two robots came at them each.
One of them came at Toby quickly. Way faster than the last two he destroyed. He quickly ran for the metal plate. His hand swiped it up. The robot was right behind him and it's hands turned to blade. It swung at him when he turned around and quickly he raised the metal to protect himself, like it was a shield. The robot pushed forward, Toby's feet slid across the arena in the direction the robot pushed him. "Crap.."
Then another robot showed. It was behind Toby, it's hands turned to blades as well and it swung it's arm at the teen. "Gah!" His arm was cut. He let his guard down for aent and the robot from the front swung at him. Toby ducked and rolled to the side, plate still in his hand. He quickly crawled on top of the metal and electricity surged through it. It started levitating with him on it. He was 9 ft in the air and stood up on the plate. Energy flowed to his hand and his eyes started glowey again, but more wildly. Toby began to shoot bolts of electricity at one of the robots.
The bolt landed and the robot sparked a bit before going still. The other one extended its arm and grabbed the boy by his neck. Now he was on the air, only thing holding him up was the robot. Not to mention being chocked. He gasped and coughed a bit before gripping on to the robots arm and charged electricity through that to the robot. He kept doing so, using a lot of his electricity. The robot started to spark and go haywire, randomly breathing fire, flailing its arm, and spun its head as fast as possible before the head flew off, and the rest of the body collasped. Toby fell with it and landed on his back.
