He looked her over, stunned by what he saw. She was beautiful, even with her... tail?. "What-what are you?" he asked in wonder.

She have him a sheepish smile. "Well you see.." Scratches her head slightly and pushes herself more into water. "I'm the ships spirit." She said with a smile and slipped under the water with a pounding heart. He wasn't suppost to know. She wasn't suppost to save him! Shaking her head she swam back towards the ship.

Jake watched her, "thank you," he whispered as his keen eyes tracked her.

Vivian circled the sunken ship and watched as three mermans swam over towards her. "Vivian!" One of the guards called and she slowly made her way to them. "Hey." She said with a fake smile. "Come on your dad wants you back." She nodded and followed them, looking back where she left the human at.

After an hour to think and breathe, he stood and walked out of the cave, towards town. He couldn't help but look out at the water.

Vivian slid inside a long cavern tunnel and came out into a city. Leaving the guards behind she headed towards the main castle. She took her time clearly not wanting to go. Alls she kept seeing was his eyes.

He let everyone know he was alive, and returned to his apartment a mile inland. He laid on his spartan bed, thinking about his savior.

A man with dark red hair and emerald eyes looked up at her. He was well muscled and had a dark green tail. "Vivian." He sighed in relief. "Hey daddy." She smiled shyly nd hugged him. "Sir?" A guard swam up slowly. "Yes?" He asked looking at him. "Your meeting is ready." Vivian sighed and nodded an said goodnight before swimming to her room. Laying down she tried to close her eyes and yet his face was there behind her eyelids.

He tried watching Sportscenter, but he kept seeing her. Finally, he got dressed, and went to the beach, looking out at the wreck under a full moon.

Vivian slipped out of her room and took off towards the ship. Swimming quickly she stopped in a patch of moon light among the sandy flooring. Running her fingers across the floor she smiled lightly as she picked up a shell.

He blinked, thinking. His other near death experiance had been last year, jumping out of a plane. His parachute failed, he hit hard, washing out of the Navy SEALS. He would have those scars forever, as he would the one on his heart.

She swam slowly and a group of tiny silver fish swam around her. Smiling she relaxed letting er self enjoy the nightly swim.

His fiancee, Angela, had been pregnant. He had done a demolition job down south. The brakes of a semi had failed, and he'd lost her. He'd wanted to die then, only living as a shell, really.

Slowly she found herself heading towards the surface. The moon was calling to her and she wanted to answer. Breaking the surface, her hair flipped over behind her and she sucked in the night air when in reality she didn't need it but it smelled.. Different.

Without realizing it, Jake was asleep, against a smooth rock on the beach.
