IHLAOY NewbieMacaria bit her bottom lip and dived out of the way as the table next to her exploded. Well, that didn't work, and she was now officially out of ideas. Her demeanor changed quickly, losing its confidence and strength nearly instantly. Pupils dilated, heart beating, Macaria looked over to her friend. "Demetria, I think we should run. Or at least, that's what I plan on doing, and I hope you'll join on me."
-
Demetria gritted her teeth. She hesitated before sighing. She turned to Macaria and nodded. "Lets go! I don't think I can stand this for much longer. I depleted my energy faster then I had hoped." Demetria turned and started running.
Hades laughed. "Running away? Your running away? You won't get very far!" -
"Why worry? Why worry?" she hissed, stopping and turning abruptly. "You don't get it, do you? I can't focus on the people who care, because there are too many who don't overwhelming me. My father. He cared. He protected me. He defended me. But he's gone. Assassinated, leaving me to fend for myself. Then I met you, and Iggy. Do you remember the first thing you said to me? 'Get away from my sister, creep.' With a swarm of giggling girls following you. Who swam off when they saw me. You'll never understand how I feel. I want to be normal. Go to a normal school, and learn normal things. Not battle tactics and whether catfish whiskers or clownfish fins are more poison resistant. Just stop Kaede. If you care, then make them think of me as normal. make them accept me. If you care, then stop." She turned and stormed out of the water, having reached the shore. She didn't look back.
-
He sighed, shaking his head he watched her go, understanding that the girl needed some space. Of course he couldn't make them stop, he wished he could, but he couldn't. He cared for the youngster like he cared for Iggy, though even though he cared, he would never tell her that all this time he's been preparing her for battle, for the day when she shall fight Hades.
Iggy swam up to him, blue eyes bright and angry, he couldn't tell whether she was angry at him or Diana, "You know, you should do something nice for her", he looked at her and laugh, "No, she'd think there was something suspisious if I tried. Why don't you go for it? Your her friend", Iggy rolled her eyes, "And your persistent Kaede", -
Diana kicked the sand as she walked. "Why can't he ever just leave me alone? He doesn't get it. Naiads as a race are already shunned, but me? I'm freak amongst my race. Why can't he understand that?" She raged to herself. She looked up, and stopped. Looming before her was something that she had always been told to avoid. Something that, if you weren't smart enough of a Naiad, could get you killed. Before her loomed towering trees, the roots poking up through the dirt. A forest. The world beyond the ocean and the beach. Somewhere where people would have no idea who she was. She could hear yelling. Naturally curious, she peered into the gloom. Nothing. After a hesitant glance backwards, she stepped underneath the canopy of the 100-year-old trees, the dirt dry under her bare feet.

He shrugged, "Iggy, as you can see she really doesn't want me to be near her".
She laughed, "Obviously, cause your being such a shark to her, of course the poor girl will go all coral on you! Just, go after her. Really, cause she's a girl and us girls do things we shouldn't when we're angry".
He rubbed his temples with his index finger, "Don't even remind me, like when you ran off with those jellyfish-", he shuddered at the memory, "Worst part is that these things don't even bother you guys".
Iggy rolled her eyes, Kaede the procrastinator, "Your stalling...", she sang, poking his side. He pouted, "Fine, but your coming with".
"Why me?"
"Cause your her friend too, she needs the both of us" -

"Hello?" Diana called. The only reply was a bird chirping. She took a few more steps forwards, eyes getting used to the gloom. As long as some of me stays damp, I'm okay, right? she thought to herself, to nervous to speak. Something moved in the corner of her eye, and she flicked her head around. There was what she knew to be a cat, but it was bigger than she had seen in the books. She racked her brain. Puma. The word came almost instantly. She stayed perfectly still as it stalked off. She began walking again, and was just getting comfortable in the new surroundings when-"Ahh!" Diana screamed in surprise as she tripped on a root. "Crabsticks. Why can't these, like, not be able to trip me?" She muttered, pulling herself off, brushing the dirt from her legs.

The two mermaids made their way to the surface, their new found feet trending upon the white sands. Kaede's eyes searched along the beach, since he was a young boy, he's always had a rather keen sight, but this time it didn't aid him at all. Because Diana was nowhere to be seen, "Oh Gods", he grumbled, rubbing his forehead, "The kid has decided to get herself killed", he already had an idea of where she had gone: the forest. "Iggy I need to you t-", "Scale the beach, gather a few seagulls, I know", he smiled fondly at his sister and resisted the urge to hug her, the girl was growing up. "Stay safe Iggs, okay?". And with that he cupped his hands around his mouth and called, "Diana!". He wobbled into the forest, his feet unskilled for gravity and the texture of land, walking always has been a challenge for the young trainer.
