IHLAOY NewbieMaracia had to stop for a moment as she and the rest of the band pulled themselves into the sun. A few of the merchants bent over with nausea, stunned at the sun, but that was expected of those who'd spent a long time underground away from the light. Maracia had no such problem; the sun was a symbol of freedom for her, and the sight of it filled her with something different.
Wriggling her toes at the weird feeling of having grass underfoot, the caravan set off again, heading towards the town. Most of the people would head straight to the marketplace to peddle their wares, while others would take the time to reconnect with friends and family. And while one or two people would comment negatively on the traditional robe and cloak of the necromancers, a good time was expected of all.
And so with a deep breath of actual, surface world air, Maracia followed behind. -
May I join?
-
(Sure!)
Demetria finished cleaning the training area. It looked much better now. She heard the sound of the Earth Army coming near. They were using the training center next. So Demetria ran off in the direction of the marketplace. A couple of people had to move out of her path. She skidded to a halt outside a shop. Her favourite cafe. It sold teas and pastries. The cafe owner was Ms. Lily, but she wanted everyone to call her Flora. Demetria walked inside and asked for a Faunaberry tea. Flora shook her head, "sorry Ria, I'm all out." Demetria sighed, but bought a pastry anyway.
Demetria walked out of the store eating it. Then her eyes caught movement. She looked closer and noticed it was the necromancers. They were here for their semi-annual trading and selling. But Demetria wondered if Maracia was with them. -
IHLAOY NewbieComing into town, the first thing that Maracia noticed was the gigantic tree looming in the horizon, large enough to overshadow most of the buildings. If Maracia remembered her studies correctly, it was most likely hollow, and contained the elite of the village. Unfortunately, the number of such trees had decreased since the war; fallen to necromancer fire and stone. Trees centuries old had fallen in that war, including Graysgild, the tree of the world.
The necromancers were still paying for that one.
Scowling to put on a show for the less informed people; it payed to keep up funny stereotypes, Maracia searched around for her friend. Should she head to her house to check there? Or was she out training again? She might even be at her favorite cafe, Maracia had no idea. Shoving past a group of young boys, Maracia made a choice, and headed off. -
I meant to join yesterday. I had a whole awesome bio written up but my phone glitched and it got deleted! So sorry!)

Demetria sprinted towards the necromancers Buy, Sell, and Trade posts. She walked through, hoping to find her friend. A couple of merchants tried to sell her things, but she politely refused everything. She sighed. Demetria couldn't see Maracia anywhere. She walked away from the necromancers and went to get her shopping done.
She walked in stores and bought a couple of bags of things. The nice thing about living in a small village is that everyone knows everyone and you know where everything is. It's nice and peaceful. Demetria passed the broken down Graysgild. She stopped and turned to look at it. The tree was destroyed. The great tree of the land. Long put into oblivion. The the tree still meant something in the world. A sign of what should never happen again. Hades rising. -
IHLAOY Newbie"So, do you have any bright ideas?" Maracia asked, glancing over at her skull.
"I hate the sun."
Maracia sighed, "Of course you don't."
Stopping for a moment, Maracia got her bearings before heading out again. All this wide, open space around her was disorienting, it was no wonder her people preferred the underground. Give her mushrooms and mud any day.
Tip-toeing through the town, Maracia finally reached her destination. Demetria's house. Now all she had to do was wait. -
Demetria shook herself out of the daze that the tree put her in. She tightened her grip on the bags and headed to her home. She passed a stream and many trees. Demetria also passed the necromancer post. Once again, they tried to sell her stuff. "No thanks," was all she said.
She walked the rest of the way to her house. She was looking down most of the time, resulting in her almost bumping into trees countless times. She looked up as she approached her home. She froze in her steps. Her eyes widened and lit up. Her heart lifted.
"Maracia?" -
IHLAOY NewbieSlowly, Maracia let her hand drop to her side; letting the skull shaped spirit float back into the air. One day, she would make him get in the bag, but that was not today. Today, there was bonding to do!
"Demetria!" She shouted, pushing herself back onto her feet. With a quick start, Maracia started running, attempting to close the distance. -
Demetria also ran to meet her halfway. She grabbed Maracia's hands, despite how cold they were, and smiled. "It's so good to see you again!" Demetria exclaimed, trying not to wear a goofy smile but failing miserably. She felt content. She squeezed Maracia's hands, "I'm so happy that you were able to come!" Demetria grinned.
-
IHLAOY Newbie"Of course I came, I had to see my bestest...second bestest...one of my friends." Macaria said, pulling her hands back. Rather quickly, she started to rub them together, trying to simulate some kind of natural heat. "Sorry about my hands, sometimes I forget my blood doesn't flow properly anymore."
With the spare energy and adrenaline running through her system, Macaria started to jump in place. "Oh man, we have so much to talk about; have you given my offer any thought? I know it's tradition to stay in the family, but it would mean a lot to me if you branched out. And my dress! Do you like it? I made it myself. And I become a collector! Like, a real one!"
"Trainee," Macaria's spirit replied.
"Oh my, I haven't even introduced the two of you yet!" Macaria said, pointing at the spirit, "This is my 'teacher.' I need to convince him to enter my bag before I become an official collector." -

Demetria blinked for a moment then giggled. "Yes I have given the offer some thought and I'm still not sure. I love your dress! It's so cool how you made it yourself!" She turned to the spirit. "Er... Hello there. I'm Demetria Mapleae."
Demetria turned back to Maracia and smiled. "I'm glad that you became... Or will become, a Collector. You mentioned it last time." Then Demetria hopped up and down at the same pace as Maracia. "My turn for questions! How have you been? Do you like my outfit? Have you been training hard? Do you want a pastry?" -
IHLAOY NewbieMacaria felt her smile drop a little as she heard Demetria say she was still thinking, before perking back up again. There was still plenty of time for her to make up her mind, an entire lifetime in fact. And even if she wasn't sure at that point, Macaria could just keep her around until she did.
"I've been great! Your outfit is very nice, but they look more suited to training and fighting that being comfortable. What happened to your old dress?"
At the mention of training, Macaria let her eyes drop, "I've had my interests in other places. This whole fighting business...it seems unnecessary. A hero is born, they're made, and expecting us to follow in their footprints simply because of our blood is...misguided. And I fear it may lead to more heartache than help."
"And yes, I would love a pastry."
