Kala shot a quick but steely glare at Zhale. "Don't be rude!" she hissed. "I haven't seen my mother since The Fleeing many years ago..."
-
"I don't have to come." He snapped back. "Everyone knows that all the pumas that were left behind in The Fleeing are dead!" He said icily. His sister had died then. "If you're so willing to trust him, what do you need me for?!"
-
"Well?" snapped Ezmere impatiently. "You coming or not??"
Kala hung her head. She leaned towards Zhale and lowered her voice to a whisper. "Just in case... just in case he's not what I'm looking for." Kala straightened her self. "Now come. Please." -
The large puma found the black female and crept up along side her. He let out a long sigh. "Our night mare is over, our future is just begining." He chuckled softly.
-
Shara smiled brightly. "And it looks to be a very bright future." She replied, rubbing against him softly.
Zhale glared. "Just in case? I'm not your backup plan." He hissed. -
Ezmere shot a glare at the two. "Very well then..." he sighed, prowling away.
"No, wait!" cried Kala desperately. She turned to Zhale and talked fast. "Just... ugh. What if he tries to kill me?!! You were right; he doesn't look all that trustworthy. I need yo... err, I need backup. And if it's a trap, then... I don't want to kill anybody. You know my decision. I'm not going to be a hypocrite again. I don't want to hurt anyone. Now get moving before I rake your face!"
XD -
He sighed softly nipping her ear tip with gentle teeth. "I hope everything calms down and they give respect." He sat next to her and watched the sky.
-
"So do I..." Shira murmured.
"You're threatening me!?" He roared, outraged. "Fine then! Go with him! But when you come crawling back with a broken heart and bleeding pelt, I'll say I told you so!" -
Kala froze. "Forget that last sentence. I often use it without thinking. I really am sorry, Zhale, but you don't have to be such a sorehead about it!"
-
He nuzzled her neck softly and left her to her thoughts. The large puma headed back into the tunnels and looked over everything. It was a calm day after the storm of the previouse night.
-
Shira half smiled after him, trailing behind slightly. "How does it feel to be a king?" She asked, smiling. "Surely you must be proud that you have united us."
Zhale sneered at her. "Then go with him. You obviously don't want me along." He narrowed his eyes. "Besides, I have better things to be doing." He leapt past Kala and stopped next to Ezmere, whispering, "You hurt her, it'll be the last thing you do." Before running off. -
"Zhale!" shouted Kala in a whiny tone, reaching out on vain with her paw. "Don't go. I need you!"
Soon Ezmere shadowed over the she-puma and seductively blew slightly in her ear. As she backed away he cackled, "We don't need that sorry mosquito bite to ruin our fun."
"Fun? But I thought we were going to see my..."
"Yes, of course. But after that, your mother asked me to show you the world."
"You mean... The top of Noble Canyon? Where the sunlight touches and everything?"
"Yup," said Ezmere slyly.
"Well?!!" cried Kala eagerly, nearly forgetting about seeing her mother. "Let's go!" -
He chuckled and rasped his tounge over her cheek. "I'm proud that I manage I bring a broken family into one." Twines there tails together. "But, I'm even more happier to be with you."
-
"And I with you." Came the smaller Luna's sweet reply closing her eyes with a slight purr.
Zhale looked back, now out of sight. He would follow, but in secret... -
Halfway to the peak of Noble Canyon, Kala froze, glaring at Ezmere. "I knew this was a trick. You told me about seeing the Skylight Village so I'd forget all about my mother. You're... you're going to..."
"Nonsense," Ezmere immediately cut her off. He tilted his head to a partially-hidden cave. Kala flinched in shock as she heard a familiar voice. "Kala! Kala, dear scrubblenewt, is that you??"
The she-puma well recognized the nickname "scrubblenewt". She frantically clawed her way inside the cave. "Mama!" she cried like a lost cub. "Mama I'm here!"
Tears flowed as Kala embraced her mother for the first time in years.
Too many years.
