Chester & Jayden

Jayden looked him in the eye for a moment before pulling away, shaking his head. "You wanted me to say it back." He mumbled. "And I should've."
-
‘Because I wanted you to be comfortable,’ Chester said, looking dishearten when he pulled away. ‘Y’know how Benji always did too much? Like, he pulled your hair, made you spend time with him, all that? Beatrice did the complete opposite. I-I just want you to be happy.’
-
"But what's the point in me being comfortable if you aren't?" Jayden said, burying his face in his hands. Why would he even choose to love someone who treats him like this? You're wasting his time.
-
‘Because I’ll eventually be ready,’ Chester said, trying to make it better. ‘I-I just want you to know I love you, and I can stop saying it if you want…’ Chester looked away, trying to stop himself from breaking down. The fact he had to stop himself was stupid to him, because why would he be the sad one? ‘I’m sorry, I just don’t know what to do.’
-
"Ready for what?" Jayden asked, looking up and noticing the look on his face. He immediately wrapped him in a hug. "You don't have to do anything."
-
Chester buried his face in Jayden’s hair, holding him tightly. ‘I-I don’t know,’ he mumbled. ‘But I’m doing everything wrong…’
-
"No you're not." Jayden shook his head. "You've done nothing wrong, Chester. None of this is your fault."
-
‘Are you sure?’ Chester mumbled, looking at him and searching his face for dishonesty. ‘I haven’t been too touchy or not touchy enough?’
-
Jayden wasn't being dishonest. He was exhausted and sad and mentally broken, but not dishonest. "You've been find, Chester." He smiled weakly. "If you're ever not, or doing something wrong I'll let you know." Now he was lying, or at least promising something he knew he couldn't fully promise.
-
Chester saw his sadness and hugged him closer. ‘Can you say that you promise? That you promise y-you’ll always tell me if I do something wrong? Please?’
-
Jayden looked down slightly and nodded.
-
Chester relaxed slightly and hugged them tighter, burying his face in his hair. ‘Thank you,’ he mumbled.
-
"You're welcome." Jayden mumbled, wishing he'd not touch his hair. Not after Benji spent so much time pulling on it.
-
Since Jayden had just promised to tell him when he’d done something wrong, Chester didn’t pull away. He sighed softly and gently twirled a curl of Jayden’s hair on his finger.
-
Jayden closed his eyes, trying to relax himself. It didn't work well.
