Jayden buried his face in Chester's shirt. "It's okay." He mumbled.

Chester held him tightly, exhaling shakily. ‘Did he do anything? I-I thought he was going to say goodbye to Beatrice, but when he left Beatrice came in, and wouldn’t let me leave-‘

"I'm fine. What happened to you?" Obviously Jayden was far from fine, but he was more worried about Beatrice bothering Chester. He hadn't learned how bad she could get yet.

‘N-Nothing, I’m fine, love,’ Chester mumbled, holding him close.

"What happened?" Jayden asked gently.

‘She just called you names and tried to convince me to leave you,’ Chester mumbled.

Jayden's immediate reaction was to ask how well it worked. How much more convincing it would've taken, or if he was already convinced. He didn't say any of that.

Chester buried his face in his hair, holding him tighter. He didn’t want to let go of him, scared that if he did Jayden would disappear and Beatrice would come back.

Jayden grimaced when Chester buried his face in his hair, closing his eyes.

Chester exhaled shakily. ‘C-Can we just lie down.’

Jayden nodded. "Yeah." He mumbled, pulling away.

Chester’s face fell when Jayden pulled away, but he just grabbed out his pocket watch. ‘A-Actually, it’s time for dinner..’

"Then lets go." Jayden offered his hand to Chester.

Chester took his hand.

Jayden took him out of the room, walking to dinner.
