James stood up, though kept a safe distance from Ed. ‘Do you remember what year you fell asleep?’

"God, it was ages ago," Ed spoke, rubbing the back of his neck. "Like the 17, no, maybe 1800's? I don't remember what year specifically-"

‘Wow,’ James said quietly. ‘That’s… wow.’

"Yeah, it's- it's been a while since I've talked to anyone," Ed mumbled, exhaling softly. "Been even longer since-" He stopped himself, shaking his head. "Never mind."

‘O-Okay,’ James said, nodding. He checked the watch on his wrist, then looked back at Ed. ‘When was the last time you ate?’

"Dunno, it's been ages," Ed replied, running a hand through his hair. "Hm, I wonder if the market's open, might go out and buy something from the vendors-"

‘It’s nearly midnight, they won’t be up right now,’ James said.

"Ugh, right-" Ed whined softly, exhaling. "Well, I suppose I'll have to wait until morning." He looked over at James, watching him for a moment. "Well, uhm I- I suppose I should let you get some rest-"

James fiddled with the strap of his camera. ‘Yeah, I’m kinda tired,’ he said with a nervous smile.

Ed smiled a little and nodded, backing up. "Well, I'll- I'll see you in the morning, if I haven't scared you off already," he spoke softly, chuckling awkwardly.

‘Okay,’ James said quietly, nodding. ‘Sounds good.’

Ed nodded, watching James for a moment before looking away. "Well then, good night- sorry, I can't remember if you told me your name or not," he said, chuckling awkwardly.

‘Oh, sorry. James Booker,’ James said with a small smile. He set his backpack back down on the bed.

"I'm Ed Atkinson," Ed replied with a small smile, nodding. "G'night, James," he added, backing up and shutting the door. He exhaled softly and walked off, rubbing his face as he tried to ignore the images that rushed into his head again.

‘G’night,’ James said, watching him walk away. He sat down on the ground and brushed off the dust that had settled on his pillow.
