Eloise watched Connor, raising an eyebrow at him. “So, uh, how long have you two known each other?” Evan didn’t respond, too focused on figuring out the song that had just come on and how to keep the cat in his lap.

“Uh, I guess for almost as long as Evan’s been recovering?” Connor replied, petting a cat that waltzed over and nuzzled it’s face into his thigh. “I met him a little after the uh, the incident and we’ve been kinda hanging out since then.”

“That’s nice- how’d you guys meet?” She asked, picking up a kitten. “My parents put an ad in the paper for someone to… help me, I guess. And Connor’s mom runs the newspaper or something so he heard when I told them to take it down, and still showed up at my door.”

“Yeah, definitely not a normal way to befriend someone,” Connor said, chuckling softly.

“Yeah, it was a dumb idea,” Evan scoffed, turning his head towards Connor and hugging the cat to his chest, which started to bite his hand to get away. “s----“

“Pfft- Damn, he does not like you~” Connor teased, chuckling softly as he watched Evan with a smile.

“f--- off,” Evan said, quickly letting go of the cat. “Give me another one-“ he said, tapping his nails on the floor to try and get one of the cats attention.

“I will, if you promise to stop abusing them-“ Connor joked, chuckling softly as he nudged Evan’s foot with his own.

“I’m not abusing them, they’re abusing me!” Evan said, frowning.

Connor laughed softly, gently picking up the cat that was closest to him. “Fine, fine, you can have this one,” he said, setting the kitty in E an’s lap.

Evan smiled as the cat now sitting in his lap meowed, laying down and curling into a ball. “I like this one-“

Connor watched Evan with a lovesick grin, pulling out his phone and snapping a quick photo. “And he likes you- Maybe because you’re not abusing him-“

“Shut up-“ Evan said, chuckling quietly.

Connor chuckled, watching Evan with a smile. He glanced over to see another cat rub against his arm, smiling and petting him. “f---, they’re literally so cute~”

“Aren’t they? They’re up for adoption, too~” Eloise said with a smile. “Honestly, I might ask my dad for one- it might help with my boredom-“
