“Favorite animal?” Connor repeated, thinking for a moment. “Hm, if you’re talking about like, household pets, I’d say cats- But in general, I really like birds,” he replied, looking over at Evan with a smile.
-
“What kind of birds?” Evan asked, running a hand through his hair.
-
“Hm, I like crows,” Connor replied, rubbing the back of Evan’s hand with his thumb. “And ducks. When I was younger, at our old house we lived by a pond and a family of ducks made a nest in a bush in our back yard, so me and my sister would feed them every day- Probably why I like them so much~”
-
“That’s so nice,” Evan said with a soft smile. “I think they have ducks at this animals shelter- I dunno, I haven’t seen them lately-“
-
“Seriously? Holy s---, that’s awesome~” Connor said with a smile, chuckling softly.
-
“Yeah, I think one of them was named Natalia, but I’m not sure,” Evan shrugged a little, trying to hide his smile.
-
“Stop, that’s adorable~” Connor said, smiling happily.
-
“Yeah, they’re pretty cute,” Evan said with a small nod, the smile slipping onto the corners of his lips.
-
Connor glanced over and blushed bright red, a lovesick grin appearing on his face as he saw the smile grow on Evan’s face. “What about you? What’s your favorite animal?”
-
“I kinda like- like, I dunno, meerkats,” Evan shrugged. “They’re kinda cute-“
-
“f---, they are cute- Oh my God, wait, I also f---ing love ferrets!” Connor said with a smile, chuckling softly. “I want one sooo bad, seriously, they’re so cute~”
-
“Aw, those are so cute,” Evan said with a nod, smiling softly.
-
“They really are,” Connor said, chuckling softly. “I also really like goats- I used to go to this one high school that had agriculture classes and a whole ass farm on the property, and they had goats and cows, sheep and pigs, horses- it was so cool, but then I-“ Connor paused, his face heating up a little with embarrassment. “Then I uh, I left soon after, it- it was a crappy school,” he said, chuckling awkwardly. He wasn’t lying, he did leave because it was a s--- school, but he also left because he was expelled. But he wasn’t gonna say that, of course-
-
“Oh, what school was it? And how was it crappy with goats and stuff?” Evan said with a quiet chuckle.
-
“It was more so like, the people there that were s---- Teachers didn’t like, actually teach,” Connor said, chuckling softly. “And the uh, the other students weren’t any better,” he spoke softly, staring at the ground for a moment. He exhaled softly, his grip on Evan’s hand tightening ever so slightly. “And uh, f---, what was the name again? East Brook? I forget-“
