“Y’know, it is so hard to eat like, anything after you become a chef- because nothings as good as how you make it,” George said, whining a little. “And sometimes you’re like, too tired or lazy to make something for yourself-“
-
“Pfft- Yeah, that sounds like a real issue-“ Clay half joked, chuckling softly. “I get what you mean, though.”
-
“Have you ever had to make a meal for yourself?” George asked curiously.
-
“Mm, sometimes- Mainly because the last chef we had really was s---,” Clay said, chuckling softly. “I’d sneak down when no one was down here and make food for myself and my sister sometimes.”
-
“How long did you have that chef?” George asked, glancing back at Clay.
-
“Only a few months, finally complained to my parents about how terrible he was,” Clay said, chuckling softly.
-
“Did they like him? Your parents?” George asked, looking back at the food.
-
“Yeah, kinda. They just kept him because they didn’t have anyone else at the time, I think,” Clay replied, running a hand through his hair. “Then they hired you.” He looked back over at George, watching him with a small smile for a moment before quickly looking away.
-
“Yeah,” George smiled softly, nodding. “Honestly, I don’t like this place as much as the last place as I worked. But it’s not bad.”
-
“Why don’t you like it?” Clay asked, furrowing his brows a little as he glanced at George.
-
George shrugged, focusing on the food for a minute. “I dunno- the kitchen is kinda cramped with the rest of the chefs, and I have to hand wash dishes.” He said, chuckling softly.
-
“Mm, I guess that’s true,” Clay said, chuckling softly.
-
“Yeah, but it’s not bad otherwise,” George shrugged. “The scenery is nice.”
-
“You’re right about that,” Clay replied with a chuckle, nodding.
-
“Who does the garden here?” George asked. “Do you know?”
