“Okay,” George said quietly, putting the pot up to dry. “Are you just waiting in here to hide, or just to eat your sandwich?”
-
“A little bit of both, yeah,” Clay said with a chuckle, taking another bite of his sandwich. “I just need a break from, everyone.”
-
“Oh, I’ll shut up, then,” George said with a quiet chuckle.
-
“No, you don’t have to shut up,” Clay said, a small smile on his face. “I don’t mind the talking, takes my mind off things~”
-
“So, you need a break from everyone… but me?” George clarified.
-
“Well, you haven’t done anything to annoy me yet, so yeah- I guess so,” Clay said, chuckling softly. He took another bite of his sandwich, humming softly.
-
George raised an eyebrow, giving Clay a look. “So, if I do, you would just like, drop me? Would you talk to me?”
-
“No, mostly because it takes a lot to annoy me,” Clay said, chuckling softly. He watched George for a moment, smiling a little. “I could never drop someone as cu- a-as good at sandwich making as you, though~” He joked, hoping the chef wouldn’t notice his slip up.
-
“Cu- good at sandwich making as me?” George mimicked him, raising an eyebrow.
-
“Shut up,” Clay said with an embarrassed chuckle, rolling his eyes with an awkward smile on his face. He looked back down at his sandwich, taking a bite.
-
George didn’t know if he should pry further about what he was going to say, blowing out a breath and putting a plate out to dry.
-
Clay soon finished his sandwich, watching George for a moment before standing up. He walked over and took his plate over to the sink, washing off his plate.
-
George stepped back, grabbing a cloth and starting to dry the dishes that weren’t already.
-
Clay hummed softly, helping George finish up the rest of the dishes.
-
“Why are you helping me?” George asked quietly, stacking the plates that were dry.
