Clay laughed softly, smiling at George. “No need to apologize, I don’t take it personally,” he said, resting a hand on George’s shoulder.
-
George lifted his head flushing g pink and glancing at Clay’s hand. “Uh- do you-“
-
Clay glanced at his own hand and blushed, pulling it back. “Y-Yes?”
-
“Do- uh, do you- y’know, like, like me? Is that why you’ve been sneaking into the kitchen so much?” George said nervously.
-
Clay flushed bright red, an embarrassed look on his face. “Wh- What?! Nooo, why- why would you ever t-think that?!” He asked, laughing nervously.
-
George frowned, nodding quickly and moving back to the vegetables, taking them off the stove. “Okay, yeah, sorry- I didn’t- I was just wondering-“
-
Clay exhaled shakily, instantly feeling guilty. “No, it’s- it’s okay,” he murmured, crossing his arms over his chest.
-
George nodded, dishing the vegetables into a bowl and pulling out the salmon.
-
Clay watched for a moment, exhaling softly. He looked around, watching the cooks work silently.
-
“So- uh, did- you have more training?” George asked, not glancing over.
-
“Yeah, a-a bit,” Clay replied, nodding. “Fencing and track- God, am I exhausted.”
-
“Well- I’d give you a sandwich but lunch is so soon,” George said quietly.
-
“All good, I get it,” Clay replied with a small chuckle, nodding.
-
“And this lunch isn’t bad, so,” George shrugged a little.
-
Clay nodded, humming softly.
