Georgie nodded hesitantly, a blank look on her face. Rupert eventually calmed down, wiping away tears. “I- I’m gonna go call Mother at work, hopefully she or someone else picks up,” he murmured, pulling away from Georgie and leaving the room. Georgie’s arms grew limp and dropped to her sides, a defeated and guilt-ridden look on her face. “This is all my fault,” they muttered, their voice shaky.
-
‘Hey, no, this is not your fault,’ Casimir said softly, wrapping his arms around them tightly and pulling them close. ‘Listen to me, this is not your fault.’
-
“It’s all my fault,” Georgie repeated, their anxious thoughts so overwhelming that they blocked out Casimir’s voice. He started hyperventilating and pulled away from his boyfriend, running out of his father’s room and out of the house.
-
‘Georgie!’ Casimir called after them. He sighed and stuffed his shaky hands into his pockets, looking back at Albert.
‘I’m sorry, prince,’ Albert said, patting Casimir’s shoulder as he left, which left Casimir in the room with a dead man. Casimir couldn’t bear to look at Georgie’s father, so he lowered his head and shut the door on his way out, then went to look for Georgie -
Georgie soon found themselves on heir back on the ground in the middle of a flower field near the outskirts of town, hyperventilating as they tried to hold back their tears. They squeezed their eyes shut and let out a frustrated scream, followed by heartbreaking sobs as they rolled over onto their side. It’s my own damn fault he’s gone, all because I didn’t get him his medicine in time!
-
If I were a cute gardener, where would I be? Casimir looked around the village, hurrying through the markets with a worried expression on his face. He hoped Georgie was okay. He found himself on the outskirts of town, searching for his lover. ‘Georgie? Hun? Georgie, please come back-‘ he called.
-
Georgie stayed curled up in the grass, sobbing into his hands. He tried to calm his breathing but failed, practically suffocating as he choked out more pained sobs.
-
Casimir saw a small, curled up shape in the distance. He ran till he got to Georgie, and gently wrapped his arms around them from behind, pulling them close. ‘It’s me,’ he said softly, pressing a kiss to the back of their head. ‘Let it all out, okay? I’m here. You’re safe.’
-
Georgie let out another choked sob and rolled over, clinging to his boyfriend. He buried his face in his chest, hyperventilating as he gripped onto his shirt.
-
Casimir held them tightly, exhaling shakily. ‘I’ve got you. Nobody blames you, okay? This is not your fault.’
-
“I-I know,” Georgie spoke through her shaky sobs, exhaling shakily. They tried taking deep breaths to calm down, but it wasn’t working.
-
Casimir gently rubbed their back, trying to soothe them. ‘You’re not alone, my love. I’m here for you, okay? I love you.’
-
Georgie exhaled shakily, curling closer to Casimir. “I-I love you, too,” he whispered, taking deep breaths and calming down a little.
-
Casimir held them close, arms wrapped protectively around them. He kissed the top of their head, rubbing their back. He knew the best thing was to just be there for them, but he wished he could make them happy.
-
“I didn’t even get to say goodbye,” Georgie spoke in a shaky voice, whining softly. “I- I can’t believe he’s gone…”
