Nick froze, glaring at the floor for a moment before leaving and shutting the door gently behind him.

Karl exhaled shakily as he watched Nick walk out the door, trying to keep himself from crying. f---, he hates me, doesn't he…

uhh, we could either ts or do like, the doctor just goes thru the basics, asking about his eating schedule n stuff, if he’s felt sick at all, been taking his meds or whatever lol) -

and Nick could be leading him out and Karl could confront him again) -

Karl walked out of the hospital room with Nick, wringing his hands together. “Nick, I- I really am sorry for breaking the photo,” he murmured softly, glancing over at the ravenette. “I promise, I-I will do whatever it takes to make it up to you, I didn’t mean to upset you…” -
Nick was silent for a moment. “There’s nothing you can do to make up for it. It is what it is.”

“Seriously? Nothing?” Karl spoke in an exasperated voice, his hands shaking. “I’m- Really, I am sorry, I didn't mean to break it, I promise-“

“Yeah, it was just unfortunate,” Nick said softly, moving around a front desk to get Karl checked out. “It just shows never to get attached to stuff y’know?”

“I’m so sorry,” Karl spoke in barely a whisper, guilt filling his voice.

“Don’t worry about it,” Nick muttered back, typing something into his laptop and blowing out a breath. “There’s an outstanding fee of twenty-five dollars.”

Karl nodded and pulled out his credit card, handing it to him. “Well uhm, if- if I could, I’d like to take you out for coffee or something, as- as another apology,” he said nervously, leaning against the counter in front of him.

Nick pressed his lips together, processing the transaction. “I’m free tomorrow before work. How about like, nine?”

“Really? You- Yes, yeah! That sounds great!” Karl said with a smile, nodding. “Yeah, coffee on my at 9!” OH THANK GOD- Well, at least he doesn’t hate me too much!

Nick smiled politely, typing a few more things in. “Where’s the coffee place?”
