“I’m 21- Kind of pathetic, still living with my parents, am I right?” Karl joked, chuckling nervously. “I uhm, I’m really only staying for my dad- He’s got his own health stuff and- I just wanna help him.” He exhaled shakily, looking down at his lap.

“Mm,” Nick nodded. “I don’t think that’s pathetic. I only just moved out, and I’m 22. But- if there’s ever an emergency with your dad, you can call me.”

Karl nodded, looking back up at Nick. “Thank you, I will,” he said with a small smile, crossing his arms over his chest. He looked to see their drinks were ready and he stood, going to grab them.

Nick watched him, thanking him when he came back. “This is pretty good,” He said after taking a sip.

“I know, right? I’m obsessed with the coffee here~” Karl said with a smile, taking a sip of his own drink.

“Well, that’s good, considering you work here,” Nick said with a chuckle. “I think if I was around coffee all day. I’d never drink it again-“

Karl giggled, nodding. “Yeah, that’s definitely true- It’s just kind of addicting, to be honest. Probably from all the sugar,” he added with a chuckle, taking a sip of his drink.

Nick chuckled a little bit, taking another sip of his drink. “True.”

Karl hummed softly, taking another sip of his drink. He watched Nick for a moment, exhaling softly. “I really am sorry, Nick,” he murmured, folding his hands together and resting them on his lap. “I’m so sorry I broke the photo…”

Nick frowned, pressing his lips together. “It’s fine, seriously.”

“I still feel bad, though,” Karl mumbled, exhaling as he leaned back in his chair. “Uhm, I’m- I’m assuming that photo meant a lot to you- You don’t have to tell me why or anything, I get it.”

“It was the last thing my Mom gave to me,” Nick said quietly, wringing his hands together. “Not to- like, make you feel worse.”

“f---- I’m so sorry,” Karl spoke in a hushed voice, hugging his legs to his chest.

“It’s okay,” Nick said. “I probably shouldn’t have been so attatched.

“I mean, I’d be upset if I were in your situation,” Karl said, sighing softly. “I’m just a f---ing klutz, is all…”
