Evan exhaled softly, texting Connor that he had parked in his usual spot. -
Connor looked around for a moment, checking to make sure no one was around before heading over to Evan’s car. “Babe, guess what, my sunburn turned into a tan,” he said with a chuckle, getting inside the car.

Evan smiled gently, leaning over and gently pushing up the sleeve of Connor’s t-shirt. “Oh yeah, s--- that looks good,” he said with a chuckle, putting the car into drive.

“Now I don’t look like I spend every waking moment holed up in my room,” Connor said, chuckling. He quickly buckled up, holding out his hand for Evan. “How was your day? You didn’t get into trouble, did you?”

Evan took his hand, shaking his head. “No, no we’re in the clear. Charlotte kept her word.”

“That’s good,” Connor said, exhaling softly. He gently squeezed Evan’s hand, humming softly. “How was your day?”

Evan shrugged. “It was pretty good. My kids have been super worried about me since yesterday.” He said quietly. “Am I really that bad at hiding when I’m upset?”

“Eh, no worse than I am,” Connor said with a chuckle, lifting Evan’s hand and kissing it.

Evan furrowed his brows, turning into the parking lot. “The thing is, you’re usually pretty good at hiding it. At least like, in public.”

“That’s probably because I never wanted anyone to know,” Connor said, shrugging. “Never wanted anyone to be burdened by my s---, or get involved. I’ve learned to open up more, which is good.”

Evan nodded in understanding, putting the car in park. “That’s fair. How’s your day been?”

“Tiring,” Connor said, chuckling softly. “My boys forced me to go on another hike, which killed my feet because they chose the longest f---ing trail,” he added, rubbing his face with his free hand. “On the plus side, I took one hell of a nap when I got back.”

Evan chuckled quietly, turning to face Connor. “That sounds awesome- were they curious about where you were yesterday?”

“Yeah, Finn was pretty adamant about finding out where I was, but he dropped it when I said I’d make him bracelets for him and his ‘friend’, who I’m one hundred percent sure he has a crush on,” Connor said, chuckling softly.

Evan gasped, smiling and curling up a little in his seat. “Awww, shut up, that is so cute-“
