Nick glanced away for a moment with a small grin before looking back at Karl. “Yeah. She also mentioned that you were single the first time we hung out when we let the dogs out on my first day.”

Karl flushed red, glaring down at their hands. "I'm gonna murder her," he muttered, trying to push back his giggles.

“Nahh, leave her alone,” Nick said with a chuckle, squeezing Karl’s hand gently to try and get him to look up again. “I mean, it led to something good, right?”

Karl looked up, a lovesick grin on his face. "Yeah, it did," he replied, giggling. "I really like you, Nick~"

Nick giggled a little bit, blushing a little bit. “I really like you too, Karl.”
“Alright, guys, I have your lemonade,” Karina said, placing the drink in front of Nick. “And a water,” She said, placing the drink in front of Karl. “You folks ready to order?”
“Uh, I’m gonna get the chicken caesar wrap,” Nick said, squeezing Karl’s hand gently as they both turned to look at him. “And for you, sir?” -
"Uhhh-" Karl froze, panicking a bit. "I guess I forgot to choose something~ What would you recommend?" He asked the waitress, looking over with a friendly smile.

“Hmm,” She paused for a moment, glancing over at her friend, the hostess, from across the room. “Honestly either the house soup or grilled cheese with tomatoes.”

"I'll have the grilled cheese, please," Karl said, excitement rising in his voice. "God, I love a good grilled cheese~"

Karina laugh a little bit, nodding as she jotted down both of their orders onto her notepad. “Great choice, I’ll be out with as soon as they’re done!” She said before she walked away.
“Thank you,” Nick said with a smiled, looking back at Karl. “So, grilled cheese man-“ -
"Hush, you~" Karl giggled, nudging Nick's foot with his own. "It's kinda a comfort food, my mom would make it for me when I was sick or feeling bad."

Nick giggled a little bit. “I won’t.” He smiled happily at what Karl said about his mom. “Does she live around here, or did you move faraway?”

"I moved, needed a change of scenery," Karl replied, rubbing his thumb over Nick's knuckles. "It's only a couple hours away though, so I can visit her if I want to."

Nick smiled, nodded, glancing down at their hands. Karl’s small movement caused some chills to go up his arm, but he ignored it. “That’s good. I bet she’s a good person, like you.”

Karl blushed red, giggling. "If anything, I hope I'm as good of a person as she is," he mumbled, sighing as he folded his free arm on the table. He rested his chin on his arm, looking up at Nick with a sad smile. "I don't deserve you, do I?~"

Nick chuckled. “Shut up, don’t say that.” He blushed, looking out the window and at the cars passing by with a small smile.
