i feel like we could draw it out a little more- bc i dont think nick would rlly get upset over this specifically? but maybe they get in a fight abt smth, or maybe nick becomes toxic or smth, and karl decides it’s not worth it anymore? and maybe since he’s already been in a relationship with one of them for a little while he’d be scared to be in one with the original one?
i also want these two to be like bfs for a little while lol)

i was thinkin smth like, in this universe maybe yeah, they could split up bc of nick being toxic or smth?
and then like, in another one maybe karl and nick get together, but karl has a moment like, god what am i doing? this is wrong, isn't it? then starts over or smth? and then we get to the one where they argue then break up and then karl like, admits defeat and just kinda gives up? that's what i was thinking and idk how many more universes we wanna do until we get back to the very first one we started with lmao)
"I- I use this old pocket watch that I found a long, long time ago," Karl answered, crossing his arms and resting them on the table. "But it's like- it looks old, but it's very futuristic, if you get what I mean. And kind of magical, in a sense?" He exhaled, nervousness taking over. "I know that sounds weird and, well, fake, but it's true."

Karl giggled, running a hand through his hair. "I mean, I uh, haven't found a universe with flying horses, but that doesn't mean there aren't," he added, smiling. He let out a sigh of relief, leaning back in his chair. "I'm so glad you're not weird out, or upset or anything."

Nick chuckled. “So, uh… how many.. Nicks? Have you dated before?” -

"I- I don't really know? I mean, most of the timelines I travelled to, the versions of you were already in relationships, or were straight, or just- just didn't like me in that way," Karl muttered, exhaling. "Or I was just, too scared to try and ask you out..." -

“Hm,” Nick paused, thinking for a moment. He was about to respond before Karina comes back with they played. “Caesar chicken wrap for you,” She said, placing the dish in front of Nick. “And grilled cheese for you,” She placed the food in front of Karl. “Could I get anything else for you two?”
“I think we’re alright for now, thank you,” Nick said with a smile, nodding. -
