Ernest held her tighter. “I’m not mad at you. Haven’t been all day.”

‘R-Really?’

“No! I mean, maybe when you kept trying to leave the house I was annoyed, but i wasn’t mad at you.” He frowned slightly. “What made you think I was?”

Mahina whimpered, burying her face in his shirt but refusing to reply.

“Alright, I won’t pry.” Ernie said quietly. “But I was never mad at you.” He looked up at Selene.

Selene gently rubbed Mahina’s back. ‘Me too, Nina. You’re OK.’
Mahina whimpered. ‘Why do you keep calling me that?’
Selene’s face fell. ‘You don’t remember..’ -
Ernie winced. “Apparently not.” He said quietly, offering Mahina his hand.

Mahina slipped her hand inside it. ‘But my name isn’t Nina,’ she mumbled.
Selene sighed. ‘I-It doesn’t matter, Ni- Mahina.’ -
“It’s a nickname.” Ernest said quietly, squeezing her hand.

“It…. It sounds similar? I don’t really know…” He looked up at Selene, shrugging.

Selene sighs. ‘It’s a long story, Mahina.’ -
(Alg! I’m gonna go in 10 minutes tho)
Ernie gave another shrug. -
(Alr!)
Mahina nodded. ‘Ok.’ -
Ernest gave Selene an apologetic look before looking back at Mahina.
