Ernie noticed, pulling her into a hug. “What in the world are you so afraid of?” He whispered.

Mahina nuzzled against him, not replying.

Ernest didn’t expect her too, even if it would’ve been nice.

Mahina sighed.

Ernie pulled away slightly to look at her and make sure she was alright. “Y’know you can tell me about whatever’s wrong, right?”

Ernest frowned. “Right?” He repeated.

Mahina whimpered.

Ernie frowned. “I’m not upset.” He said quickly.

‘Are you sure?’

“Yes.” Ernie nodded. “I’m just worried, that’s all.”

Mahina nuzzled against him. ‘OK.’

“Is that what you’re scared of? Me and Selene being upset with you?” Ernie asked, hoping he was at least close to the truth.
