Chester sighed and nodded weakly. He pulled off his coat and took out the broken clock. The back of the metal was dented but otherwise fine. The glass was cracked and the hands had detached from the clock face. Little gears had fallen out.

Jayden offered his hand to see the clock. "Can I see it?" He asked. He wanted to see if there was any way he could fix it, or if he'd have to pay someone to.

Chester nodded and carefully put the little pieces into his hand, face expressionless.

Jayd looked at it, trying to see if he could put the gears back, or at least put the lid back on it before sighing. "I'm sorry."

Chester looked away, not replying. He fidgeted with his hands, picking at the skin behind his fingernails.

Jayden gave him the pieces of the watch back. "I can try and find someone to repair it, ok?"

Chester sighed and nodded. ‘Alright,’ he mumbled, fiddling with one of the small gears.

Jayd looked at him. "Are you ok?" He asked quietly, even though he knew the answer.

Chester shook his head, avoiding his gaze.

"Ok." Jayden didn't say anything else.

Chester leaned against him. ‘Do you hate me?’

Jayd wrapped an arm around him. "Well, you did kind of threaten to hurt me and my brother." He said quietly. He didn't want to admit it, but he didn't hate him. It was that his fear of him started up again.

Chester cuddled his legs to his chest. ‘So you do?’

"No. I just..." Jayden sighed. "It's... It's complicated ok?"

‘Then could you explain it to me?’
