Astrid’s eyes narrowed. “We made a deal. You didn’t follow through on it. I did.”
Jayden wrapped his arm around his boyfriend to try and comfort him. -
Chester swallowed, trying to think of a way out of this. He couldn’t control the tears welling in his eyes. ‘Give me the rest of the pieces. Now.’
-
Astrid rolled his eyes before tossing the rest of the watch to him. The glass was broken, and some of the metal was slightly dented, but other than that it seemed to be fine and functional. “Fine.”
-
Chester’s breath hitched as he caught it. He traced his finger along the dented metal and carefully slipped it into the same pocket as the small gears.
-
The food eventually got to them. Jayden could sense how tense it was- it was impossible not to- and grabbed Chester’s hand. “Come on. We’re eating in my room.” He said quietly.
-
Chester glanced at Jayden, then at Astrid, jaw clenched. ‘Fine,’ he mumbled, grabbing his plate. He was going to make Astrid pay for what he’d done.
-
Jayd grabbed his plate as well, standing up. He glared at Astrid before starting to walk forward.
-
Chester avoided looking at the two as he stood up, one hand on the hilt of his sword and one holding his plate. ‘This isn’t over,’ he snapped at Astrid. ‘I’ll make you pay, you disgusting little-‘
-
“Sure, Cottontail.” Astrid said in a scarily confident tone.
-
Chester growled and set his food on a nearby table. ‘You wanna bet?’
-
Jayden held his plate in one hand and lightly grabbed his shoulder with the other. “Chester.” He said quietly. “Please.”
-
‘He deserves whatever come to him, Jayden,’ Chester snapped, pulling away. ‘I swear, I’m going to wipe that stupid little smirk of his stupid little face.’
-
Jayd looked down, pulling his hand away.
Astrid looked like he fully enjoyed the tension. -
Chester’s heart wrenched at Jayden’s expression, but he turned his gaze back to Astrid, fuelled with anger. He stepped forward, hand on the hilt of his sword. ‘Don’t you ever talk to us like that again.’
-
Astrid's hand was on his own sword handle. "Or else what?" He snapped back.
