Chester wrapped an arm around him and opened the door for him.
-
Jayden smiled. “Thanks.” He said before walking out.
-
Chester smiled and followed him to the dining hall.
-
Jayd opened the kitchen door for him.
-
Chester took a deep breath before walking inside. Astrid was already inside.
-
Astrid had something in his hands, and a sheathed sword and knife. He looked up at Chester. “Hey, Cottontail.”
-
Chester swallowed hard. ‘Hello,’ he said, hand moving to his sword hilt.
-
Astrid had a small smirk on his face. “Good afternoon.” He didn’t reveal what was in his hand.
-
Chester tried to look over as he sat down opposite him, letting go of Jayden. He didn’t respond.
-
“So.” Astrid said. “You wanted your pocket watch back, right?”
Jayden’s eyebrows raised. He was just going to give it back? -
Chester nodded, brows furrowing slightly. ‘Of course.’
-
Astrid gave a small nod. “Fine.” He released his grip and skooted some broken parts of the pocket watch lit to him, keeping the actual clock part. “Here.”
Jayden glared at him, wanting to punch him in the face. -
Chester’s face paled. He let go of his sword hilt and reached out, carefully taking a small gear of the broken watch. He set it back on the table and looked back at Astrid, breathing quickening. ‘You broke it.’
-
“Told you to behave.” Astrid shrugged. “You didn’t listen.”
“You fu-“
“This isn’t about you, Jayden.” -
Chester watched the broken pieces of his watch for a moment. He scooped them up and carefully put them into his coat pocket. ‘I’m not some kind of animal or child. You can’t punish me,’ Chester said in a shaky voice. ‘Give me the rest of the pieces.’
