Chester smiled weakly. ‘It’s not your fault.’

"I don't care. It's messed up."

Chester pulled him close. ‘It’s fine as long as you’re there.’

"No, it's not." Jayd mumbled. "My family was a bunch of brats, and I did hardly anything to defend you. It's not fine."

Chester held the door to Jayden’s bedroom open for him. ‘I don’t care. I can handle myself.’ He thought back to when he’d had a breakdown, winced but shooed the thought away.

"But I care." Jayden said quietly, noticing him wincing. "I'm sorry they're such brats."

Chester smiled weakly, walking inside. ‘It’s not your fault.’

"I'm still sorry. You don't deserve having to endure them."

‘Neither do you, and you’ve had to do it your entire life.’ Chester grabbed some pyjamas from his suitcase. ‘I’ll be fine.’

Jayd grabbed his own pyjamas from his closet before walking into his bathroom and getting changed.

Chester watched him leave. He sighed and set his pocket watch on the bedside table, before changing into his own pyjamas.

Jayden knocked on the door once he was ready. "Can I come in?"

‘Yep,’ Chester said, pulling his shirt on.

Jayd walked in, crashing face first on his bed.

Chester laughed, laying down next to him. ‘You good?’
