Chester grabbed his hand, trying to make it better. ‘Because I didn’t feel it as much then. Maybe a bit, but barely at all because there was no one to tell me I was doing something wrong,’ he said quietly. ‘Now everyone’s telling me I’m some disgusting f*g.’
-
Jayden went quiet. It was a valid reason. Why would he stay with someone who everyone treats him like a freak for being with? He thought to himself. He knew he was treated similarly, but at least his family- other than Astrid- mostly ignored it.
-
Chester rubbed his thumb along the back of Jayden’s knuckles, trying to gauge whether he was mad or not. ‘I don’t want you to leave. I want you to stay,’ he said quietly. ‘Your birthday’s in a couple of weeks, right?’
-
Jayden looked up at him. "Why would you want to stay with someone who makes you feel like a freak?" He asked bluntly.
-
Chester was too stunned to say anything for a moment. He just stared at him. ‘You don’t make me feel like a freak.’
-
"You said you feel like you're doing something wrong every time you're holding me." Jayden mumbled.
-
‘That’s because of other people,’ Chester said, desperately grabbing his hands. ‘Not you. I wouldn’t change a thing about you. You’re amazing, it’s just stupid people getting into my stupid head, okay? You did nothing wrong.’
-
You'd change that I'm a man, Jayden thought immediately. He didn't say anything, looking down at their hands.
-
Chester gently pressed a kiss on his knuckles. ‘I’m glad I’m with you. I wouldn’t change a thing. Sexuality i-is just really confusing.’
-
Jayden looked up at him, not meeting him in the eye. "Okay."
-
Chester tucked a curl behind his ear. ‘I love you, okay? It’s not you I’m ashamed of, it’s my own doubt. How about we get a holiday house for your birthday? Just us, in the middle of the woods, with no servants or stupid people?’
-
Jayd looked down again. "Maybe." He mumbled.
-
Chester cupped his chin, gently tilting his head up. ‘I’m not ashamed of you, love,’ he said quietly. ‘You understand that, right?’
-
Jayden looked down, not answering. He thought he knew until just barely.
-
Chester sighed. He gently kissed Jayden’s forehead. ‘I’m not ashamed of you. I’m ashamed of myself.’
