Jayden held him closer, chuckling slightly. He knew it was the wrong time to be laughing, but he found it funny how Chester was so worried about how he appeared, and how his own boyfriend would perceive it.

‘What’s so funny?’

"That you thought I would think you look like a girl." Jayd leaned into him. "Did you think I looked like a girl?"

Chester shook his head, burying his face in Jayden’s shirt, cheeks flushing from embarrassment.

Jayden held him close. "I can return the dress for you." He offered. He knew he'd said it a lot, but he wanted Chester to know that he didn't care either way.

Chester shook his head. ‘I’m just being stupid. I don’t want to be a sexist piece of s---.’

Jayden frowned. "Why's it sexist to not want to wear something?"

‘Because I think it’s some horrible thing to look like a girl! O-Or not love one!’

Jayden froze a bit at the last sentence. "What?" He asked quietly, hoping he just got confused and heard him wrong.

Chester looked down, grip on Jayden tightening. He was afraid to let go. ‘I’m sorry, we’ve been together months now,’ he mumbled, resting his forehead on Jayden’s shoulder. ‘And I don’t want to break up or anything, I really love you, but I feel like I’m doing something wrong every time I hold you.’

Jayden looked at him, very upset. You couldn't have told me sooner? You had to wait MONTHS? His grip on Chester loosened.

Chester hated the look on his face. ‘I-I’m sorry for not telling you. I thought it would pass and I was just being silly, but then I had leave and my own people were so horrible about the fact I loved a man, and now my own family hates me-‘

Jayden didn't answer, pulling away and burying his face in his hands. It felt like a sick joke. Hey, I love you, but I'm really ashamed and embarrassed that I'm even with you. Sorry.

All hope Chester had that Jayden would understand disappeared. ‘Jayden? Can you say something please?’

Jayden understood. He knew the feeling. But he didn't think someone would keep that from their partner, or stay with them for so long if they felt like that. It made their relationship seem hollow, in a way. Fake. "Why didn't you tell me earlier?" He asked quietly, staring at his shoes.
