‘I’m all good. Don’t worry about me,’ Chester said with a fake smile.

Jayd frowned. "I don't believe you." He said quietly. "I can tell when your smile is fake, love."

Chester sighed softly, reaching for Jayden’s hand. ‘I’m fine, honestly.

Jayden let him take his hand. "Chester, you need to eat." He murmured, looking up at him.

Chester shook his head, looking down.

"Why not?" Jayd asked softly. "It's not going to kill you."

‘I just don’t want to, okay? Can you please drop it?’

Jayden shot him a 'what the hell?' type look. He leaned against the wall, not saying anything.

Chester frowned back. He looked away and let go of his hand. ‘I’m going for a walk in the gardens. Alone.’ He kissed Jayden’s forehead, trying to show that he didn’t mean it in a hostile way, then walked off.

Jayd stood there for a bit, trying to think about what just happened and where he went wrong. He eventually gave up, sighed and walked to his room.

Chester walked out of the castle and stuck his hands in his pockets, focusing on his shoes. He walked through the gardens and morphed into a small cat, and curled up on the grass.

Jayden went in his room, shut the door behind him, and crashed face-first into his pillow, sighing. He f---ed up today. A lot.

Chester morphed into a phoenix, putting his wings over his head.

Jayd snuggled into one of his blankets. He wished Chester was next to him. But he wasn't.
And he would just have to get used to that, since Chester couldn't stay there forever. -
Chester accidentally set the grass on fire. He was too lost in his self pity and regret to notice. The smell of smoke snapped him out of it. He screeched in surprise and tried to blow it out with his wings.
