‘It’s not your fault. Do you still want to go outside?’ Collins asked.

"yes. I want to go with you." Florence said as he slowly opened his wings.

Collins smiled weakly. ‘Okay. Where do you want to go?’

"I want to see a possum, or maybe a ferret." Florence said. He liked animals after all. He mimicked the chirping sound that ferrets make.

'They have ferrets at the local zoo, I think. It's the weekend, so it wouldn't be open,' Collins said.

"awww." Florence said, only a little disappointed. He mimicked an elephant. He'd never seen one of those either. Most big animals were foreign to him.

'No, that's a good thing! You can probably fly over the gate or something, and nobody will see you,' Collins said.

"isn't that illegal?" Florence asked before mimicking a police siren. He didn't like breaking laws, after all, they were there to keep people safe

'Oh, yeah, that's true...' Collins said. 'Well, the experiments the researchers did on you were technically illegal too.'

"why did they do them if they're illegal? They would get arrested." Florence said. He didn't have a great concept of the law

'People doing illegal things aren't always caught. I think it goes against human rights or something, especially if the experiments were conducted without the person's permission,' Collins said.

"I mean, I'm not a person. I guess the people below would be illegal... Do you promise that if I do this... The creator won't be mad at me? He told me to never break a law or he'd hate me." Florence said timidly.

Collins' face softened. 'I promise he won't be mad at you,' she said. 'You've been cooped up in this place all your life, why not go have some fun?' After all, how could a dead guy be angry?

"I told you he's not dead." Florence said weakly. He just didn't have the drive to fight the statement right now.

'Sorry,' Collins said quietly, rubbing the bridge of her nose in exasperation. 'Come on, we should get going if you want to see the ferrets.'
