"I don't understand." Florence said as he hunched his shoulders. He looked like he wanted to collapse in on himself. He mimicked the chirping of a bird.

Collins sighed in exasperation, looking at him. ‘War, Florence. You do know what war is, right?’

"I.... I don't like it. I don't fully know, but I feel the badness. I see it behind my eyes." Florence said before mimicking the loud and terrifying sound of gunshots.

‘Well, that’s what you’d be a weapon in, Florence. Like a gun or a bomb, except much more powerful,’ Collins said, wincing slightly at his mimicked sounds of gunshots.

"I... But I'm... I know I'm not human but... I still have feelings a-and goals." Florence said as tears started welling in his eyes.

Collins watched him for a moment, her expression unreadable. She tentatively put a hand on Florence’s shoulder, unsure how to calm him down. ‘I know. It probably won’t even happen, okay?’

Collins got shocked by the electricity running from Florence's back. "Do you think... Maybe I could leave the hospital... Just for a little bit. I'm sure if the creator came here he wouldn't just leave without me, right?" Florence said

Collins jumped a little at the shock, pulling her hand back. It hurt a bit more than an everyday one would, like after somebody rubbed a balloon and touched you, but she wasn’t dead so she waved it off. She’d forgotten about that. ‘Of course you could. I don’t see why not,’ she said, rubbing her hand. ‘We can’t let regular people see you, though.’

"what's wrong with normal people seeing me? Is it because I'm scary?" Florence asked dejectedly as he mimicked a broken accordian.

Collins winced. ‘No, it’s not that! It’s just, well, there aren’t many, er, things like you. You’d, um..’ she paused, trying to think of a word other than scare. ‘Um, startle people. The cops would most likely detain you or something.’

"people wouldn't like me?" Florence asked innocently. His eyes turned a deeper blue color as he looked frightened towards this concept.

‘Well, not everyone is as open minded as I am. The only reason I’m not afraid of you is because I know you. Other people… I mean maybe they’d like you, but people are scared of things that are.. different,’ Collins said quietly, trying to make it seem better.

"so I am scary." Florence said. He hated that he was different. He mimicked the sound of rain.

‘Um, from some point of views..’ Collins trailed off, fiddling with her hands. ‘Look, what I’m trying to say, is that if somebody saw you they’d scream, run away and call the police on us, who would then take you into custody, give you away to a facility, etcetera etcetera. You can go outside, but you can’t let anybody see you.’

"I hate being scary." Florence said before mimicking a low note on the tuba.
