"you'll want them when you're face to face with the beast." James said. Valako rubbed the stone between her fingers. It was rough. She got home and laid down for a nap after covering the cookies with a picnic blanket.
Timeskip?)) -
(Sure!)
After a couple hours it was finally dark.
“Alright I’m going in to find this non-beast.” Jonah said, walking into the forest. “Time me!” -
"we'll be waiting." James said. "Don't worry about the timer if if gets too close." Sally said. "Throw rocks and shine your light to get it to leave." George said. Valako woke up from a light from the treeline.
-
Jonah looked around the forest with his phones flashlight, ready to take a photo of whatever dumb animal was freaking everyone out.
-
Valako looked out of her window and saw a flashlight to the right of her hut. She heard four voices. She recognized the voices of James and George. She drew her curtains a bit. They threw rocks the hardest shed learned.
-
Jonah looked at the window, noticing the curtains slightly closed. He could’ve sworn they were open a moment before.
“Who’s in there?” He asked, trying to sound brave. -
"um" Valako stuttered. This voice was unfamiliar. She opened her curtains a crack. She searched through the cabin and found her veil. She put in on before opening her door a bit to look out with her good eye.
-
Jonah noticed the face peeking through the door. It looked like a girl, maybe a year or two older than him. He frowned.
“You’re not a monster.” He said quietly. “What’s with all the kids saying a monster lives here?” -
"that... Please don't throw any rocks." Valako said, slowly stepping out of the door. She made sure her face would be covered by the veil. First impressions had a lot to do with looks. A new voice might mean a new face. Someone who never saw her problem.
-
“Why would I throw rocks? What’s with the veil? Why do people call you a monster?” Jonah rambled before shutting up.
-
"uh, the monster is me. I... Have a problem with my face. I don't eat people though, I was just born with... A weird face. I promise I'm harmless." Valako said. She reached under the veil to itch the greyish skin where her deformity would've been an eye.
-
Jonah raised his eyebrows. “Well I’m not gonna throw rocks at you.” He said, lowering his voice in case the other kids heard. He saw a bunny dart across the forest and took a quick photo of it. “There, I’ll tell them it was just a bunny, alright?”
-
"they won't believe that. They've seen me as long as I've seen them. Which is around 10 years by now. It's fine to say you saw me. They'll just keep throwing rocks, I'm used to it. Oh, off topic, would you like some cookies?" Valako said. She knew it was a bad time, but who knows, maybe this person wouldn't be scared of her if he knew she was just as human as the people out of the forest before he saw what was under the veil.
-
Jonah nodded. “Yeah, that sounds good. Why do they think you’re a monster? Just because you were born with a deformation or something?”
-
"My face is really startling. I prefer to wear this veil because it's less scary. Anyone would think I was a monster if they looked at my face." Valako said stepping into her house to grab her cookie basket. She carried out the basket which was filled with all sorts of cookies. Sugar cookies, m&m cookies, chocolate chip cookies, white chocolate macadamia nut cookies and cinnamon sugar cookies. She baked them all but she wouldn't say that
