Nikolai didn’t understand what Natsuki was signing, but she walked to the door, so he figured he’d follow her.
-
They walked to their lockers as they - their lockers - were pretty close together. Nat out her health textbooks away and then closed her locker.
-
Nikolai dumped his health notes and grabbed his math sheets and calculator, closing the locker.
-
Natsuki took out her timetable and showed it to Nik. She had English next.
-
Nikolai smiled. “Same.”
-
Natsuki grinned and stuffed her timetable in her bag.
-
Nikolai walked towards the left side of the hallway, where the English class was.
-
Natsuki followed him and thankfully they didn't run into Chase on the way. They found two spare seats in English class and Natsuki sat down at the left one, setting her bag on the ground and rummaging around for her English books.
-
Nik sat down in the seat next to Nat, taking his Shakespeare book out of his backpack.
(Haha, I can show my inner theater kid once again) -
(lmao)
Nat grabbed out her Shakespeare book and her notes, as well as a pen and opened to the page they were up to. She skimmed the pages, narrowing her eyes at it as if it would make the words make sense. -
“Need help with the Shakespeare?” Nikolai asked, noticing how Nat looked like she was struggling.
-
Natsuki nodded slowly, eyes still on the page, trying to decipher a particularly big word.
-
“So basically now that Hamlet knows that his uncle killed his father to marry his mom as inherit the throne, he challenges his uncle to a duel.” Nikolai started. “But it’s not very kingly for the uncle to duel his stepson, so instead Hamlets cousin duels for the uncle. But what Hamlet doesn’t know is that his uncle- or stepdad I guess- dipped the cousins blade in poison so that when he duels Hamlet, the second the blade touches him, Hamlets dead.” Nik looked at Natsuki, trying to make sure she understood what was going on.
-
Natsuki wrote this down in her notebook, nodding as he spoke. She raised her eyebrows at how quickly this story got very dark, and gestured for him to continue.
-
(Trust me, it only gets darker😂)
“Well the uncle also has a backup plan, a secret poison thingy that he can put in a drink and give to Hamlet as a toast in case the poison sword doesn’t work.” Nik said. “And the duel starts, with Hamlet beating him pretty easily the first round, but by the second one his cousin manages to slice Hamlet in the leg. It’s not a deep cut, but since it’s dipped in poison, Hamlet starts doing worse, and that’s when the cousin starts to realize that he’s on the wrong side of the fight.”
