Anne walked at a slightly quicker pace now, still holding onto her hat.
'What do you need us to do?' she asked when they got to her mother. -
Marilla smiled showing a small wicker basket. She unfolded the lid revealing a picnic. There were mini sandwiches filed with ham and cucumber, chicken and sweetcorn. Steamed Milk and cans of peaches.
"It's magic!" Lily exclaimed.
(By the way steamed milk was like a treat and so was tinned peaches back in those days) -
'Not so much magic as it is food,' Marilla said. 'You two can get changed into your swimwear, which are in the cart. I'll get the umbrella sorted.'

Lily looked to Anne. "What's, Swimwear?" She asked confused. She'd never heard of it before.

'Clothes you wear in the water,' Anne said, taking Lily's hand. 'Come on!' She lead Lily to the cart, where a bag of clothes were in the back seat.

Lily looked confused but followed Anne wondering what it would look like.

Anne grabbed the bag and started walking towards the hut things for her and Lily to change at. She grabbed one dress from the bag and handed it to Lily. It was a navy dress with a white-striped large collar.
(Search up 1800s swimwear if you need to know what it looks like) -
(Okay, I will have too lol. I only know modern swimsuits)

Lily entered the small red-paintes hut and changed into her navy bathing suit. It was a lovely material slightly baggy but was soft against her skin. She turned to Anne wondering what her bathing suit looked like.

Anne's swimwear was identical to Lily's, and she entered the yellow but next to the one Lily entered. She finished just after her friend had and she stepped outside, looking to the latter.
'You look nice!' Anne said with a smile, untieing her plaits. -
"Thanks, so do you" she grinned for once returning the compliment. She took Anne's hand and jogged back to her Mother.

Marilla looked down at them. 'Good. Everything is set up, so you two can go play in the water,' she said, holding onto her hat. She hadn't changed into swimwear, and wasn't planning to.

Lily grinned still holding Anne's hand. "Come on then, you've got to teach me how to swim!" She exclaimed. She could do basic doggy paddle and a silly attempt at backstroke but otherwise she was blank to the words 'swimming'

'I can try,' Anne said, shrugging. They ran down to the water, and the beach was flat so it was easy to wade in without being sucked away by the waves.

Lily paddled into the water until it reached her waist height. She sunk down a little her arms clinging to the sand beneath her.
