"I thought you said you were coming after school," Claire said. Looking at the clock it was now after lunch.

"maybe i did, but i did also say i wanted an excuse to skip school." Blaze says, grinning. "it was boring, anyways."

"What, without getting chased by people you once knew?" Claire laughed but it came out as more of a cough.

Blaze looked at her in concern. "are you okay? is it just a cold?" he asks.

"I don't know," Claire said. "Might just be a super bad cold with a fever."

Blaze put his hand to her forehead. "you're burning up!" he exclaims.

"Told you there's a fever," she said. "Have you eaten lunch yet?" she asked.

"no, but i wasn't going to anyway. i wanted to come check on you first." Blaze says, pulling his hand back an crossing his arms.

"You should eat, there's food downstairs," Claire said.

"no thank you. i'd rather stay with you." Blaze says stubbornly. "if i wanted to eat i would've stayed at school."

Claire chuckled. "You're sweet," she said. "I don't know how you managed to fall in with the wrong crowd."

Blaze blushes slightly. "not sweet. just stubborn." he says, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Sweet and stubborn," Claire compromised.

Blaze chuckled, rolling his eyes. "i was tired of people treating me like i was lesser than them, so i became this." he says, answering her earlier wonders. "but now i don't think i chose the right path anymore..."

Claire leaned on him. "Well, whatever you decide, I'll always be here for you," she said.
