The lady was leaping from roof to roof, landing with grace. At this point, she was starting to pity Timothy a little bit and decided to be nice. It took you by surprise, with one swift motion she scooped you up into her arms, carrying you, bridal style. "You'll slow us down if you keep stumbling when you land, so I'll just carry you to make this easier on both of us." She explains.
-
Timothy resisted the urge to squirm under her grasp. He was definitely not accustomed to being held, much less by a lady he had never met before. He relaxed, however, trying to be as natural as he could.
-
After hopping from roof to roof a few more times, they arrived at the motel's rooftop and puts you back down onto your feet. She leans against the elevator's doorframe, waiting for it to come up. "Sorry about that, the whole... me being your captor thing and now you have to trust me in order for both of us to make it out alive. Must've been really awkward for you..." Her voice trails off as the elevator dings and opens. Timothy and the lady enter, and she presses the button to her floor.
-
"Oh, it's fine," Timothy sat down on the floor of the elevator. "I'm just glad I didn't have another accident." Timothy rubbed his prosthetic arm with a sigh.
-
Ollie didn’t say anything to the chief. They turned back to Emorette to follow her.
-
The lady nods, "If you don't mind me asking, how did you even get the prosthetic arm?" She asks Timothy, her interest piqued.
-
Emorette leads Ollie to their quarters, "If you ever need anything, just ring the bell and either me, or one of my fellow leaders will come in to check on you. Rest up, you'll need energy for tomorrow. I'm sure the citizens will be very excited to meet you." She says, causually. Then closes the door behind her.
-
"I was in a terrible fire," Timothy explained. "As I was escaping, my arm was caught on one of the doors that had been damaged by fire. Then, part of the roof fell off..."
-
Ollie made a silent vow never to ring the bell. They lay down, curling into a ball and trying to sleep.
-
The lady gives Timothy a look of sympathy. "Bet that hurt a lot, didn't it? At least you're still alive and survived it. You are your own hero, so good for you. Though, how long ago was that?"
-
Something was in the room with Ollie. It made no noise, but you felt its presence. It was closer than you thought. Practically right next to you. It was hard to see it in the dark, but its silhouette framed the moonlight shadow. The shadow was staring at you, a blank, dead stare. Saying nothing at all. Its aura radiating pure doom and dread.
-
"It's been... maybe two years?" Timothy grimaced. "I don't like to think about it."
-
The lady's eyebrows shot up, "Yikes, that's pretty recent. Well, enough of that, we're already here." She unlocks the door to her motel room. It has one bed and a pull-out bed from the couch. "Make yourself comfy, we leave at dawn." She says, cryptically.
-
Ollie sucked in a breath, terrified of the thing in the dark. They shut their eyes tightly, quaking with fear. After a moment, however, they got too curious and opened one eye, seeing if they could make out the thing this time.
-
Its eyes were glowing a pure white. Made of all shadow, it felt like a warm mist on your skin. It gives you a macabre grin, tilting its head to the side.
