"That's good," Nick said with a smile, blushing a little. He sat down next to Karl, crossing his legs. "Do you want anything? Does anything hurt?"
-
"Not really. I feel better by the second. I just panicked when we went under, I inhaled so much water." Karl laughed lightly. He turned towards Nick. "I'm such an idiot, I'm so sorry." His eyes fell to the sand and he sighed.
Clay gathered all their stuff and carefully moved it over to where his friends were. -
"Hey, no, it's okay," Nick said, frowning a little bit as he realized Karl felt guilty "It's not your fault at all. I'm fine, and I'm glad you're okay."
-
"But I pulled us both under. I could have hurt you." Karl continued, tears starting to form in his eyes.
Clay set down all their stuff and gazed down at Karl. "What? No, it's my fault. I asked you to come out here, I p***ed off Nick, it's my fault." Clay's voice broke, and he went back to hurting his wrists, still unnoticed. -
"My God-" Nick paused, glancing in between his friends. "No- no no no, it's no one's fault. And even if it was, no one's dead. Please guys, don't be upset-"
-
Karl looked at Nick as a tear slipped down his cheek. "O-Okay. Thank you guys for saving me." He sighed heavily.
Dream nodded but, wasn't fully convinced. He continued to harm himself while he looked down at Sapnap and Karl. -
"Of course," Nick said, watching Karl for a moment before wiping the tear off of his cheek. He turned to Clay after that, patting the sand next to him. "Sit down."
-
Karl's cheeks reddened and he smiled.
"Okay," Clay said distantly as he sat down. He continued absentmindedly messing with his wrists as he gazed out at the ocean.
Karl leaned his head on Nick's shoulder without truly realizing it. He sighed with both relief and exhaustion. -
Nick watched Clay pick at his wrists, gently swatting his hands away. "Stop that," He froze, his head snapping over to Karl as he felt his head on his shoulder. He turned cherry red, his eyes widening as he looked over to Dream with eyes that screamed: 'Help what do I do.'
-
Clay stifled a laugh. He discreetly inched behind Nick and grabbed his arm, and gently wrapped it around Karl's waist. He returned to his original position, but slightly farther away this time. He continued to mess with his writs while Nick was...preoccupied.
Karl relaxed, still not completely realizing what he had done. -
Nick just followed, staying tense as hell. He hesitantly laid his head onto Karl's, staring out to the ocean.
-
"Relax," Clay whispered, noticing Nick's demeanor. "You've got this." He turned to gaze out at the ocean as well until he felt something warm and sticky in his hands. He looked down, and to his shock, his wrist was bleeding heavily. He glanced over to make sure Nick hadn't noticed yet.
Karl subconsciously pressed closer to Nick and started to doze off. -
Nick smiled nervously, taking a deep, shaky breath and doing his best to relax.
-
Clay carefully got up, blood dripping from his wrists. "s---..." He muttered. The sand where he was once before was now stained red. His eyes widened in panic as he glanced at Nick just as Karl awoke.
Karl suddenly stirred, finally realizing what he'd done. "OH MY GOSH I'M SO SORRY NICK I-" He jumped back and pulled his knees to his chest. -
Nick quickly pulled his hand back, frowning slightly. "No- it's okay, you were just tired. I get it."
