"Clay, please-" Nick exclaimed, "Wake up," He added, his voice breaking as he gently hit Clay's cheek again.
-
Minutes passed by, and after a while, Karl could hear sirens in the distance. "T-They're coming," Karl whispered to Nick.
-
Nick nodded, watching Clay with an uneasy expression plastered on his face.
-
The paramedics arrived and came out with a stretcher, doing their best to carefully put Clay on. They questioned Karl and Nick about what happened, and they put Clay in the back of the ambulance. "One of you can ride with him if you'd like." A woman told them.
"Nick, you go. I'll gather the stuff and drive." Karl said softly. -
Nick nodded, smiling a little at Karl and shooting him a glance of gratitude before following the woman into the ambulance.
-
Clay awoke to the sharp beeping of a heart monitor and dimmed lights in a hospital room. "What happened!?" He said as he sharply sat up. "What??"
Karl was properly asleep this time, again unintentionally leaning on Nick. They were on a couch in the corner of the room. The stress had worn Karl out completely. -
Nick when dozing off himself, mainly from boredom, but snapped alert when Clay had woken up. "Hey- hey, you're okay," He called softly, cringing slightly when he sat straight up. "You f---ing blacked out man, you bled out-"
-
Clay's eyes went wide and he stared at Nick in shock. "I-" he glanced down at his wrists to see fresh stitches in his left one. "...I did?"
Karl stirred slightly, but didn't wake -
"Yeah," Nick said, an unreadable look on his face.
-
Clay's throat tightened and tears welled in his eyes. "I-I'm sorry," Clay said, his voice breaking. "I'm so sorry."
-
"No- please don't cry," Nick said, frowning. He glanced over to Karl, gently removing him and standing. He quickly went over to the bed, crouching down and grabbing Clay's hand that didn't have the stitches. "It's okay."
-
"I remember now, I did it on purpose, you told me to stop, I didn't." Clay whispered as he looked up at Nick.
-
Sapnap frowned, biting his lip. "But you're alright now, and that's all I care about."
-
"Am I? AM I alright?" Clay asked and looked at Nick with hopelessness in his eyes. A tear slipped down his cheek and he sighed.
-
"I don't Clay," Sapnap stated softly, wiping the tear off of Clay's cheek. "But that's something you need to figure out yourself. I will help you as much as I can, but it's up to you."
