"Carlos McHaven. The other's call me Hav for short. I have no clue why, but everybody just sticks to that nickname." Carlos shook his head and laughed lightheartedly.

"Well you already know my name's Asteria," she smiled. "I usually just go by Aster for short."

"Aster.. that’s a really pretty nicknames." Carlos smiled. "I haven't been told why you're here at this manor. What are you doing here?"

"Um," Asteria said. That was kind of personal. "That's kind of a long story," she said instead

"I might not have all day to listen to it, unfortunately.” Carlos frowned and tapped his fingers against the table in thought. "If you want, you can narrow it down in one sentence?" -
"I'd rather not talk about it," she mumbled, summarizing it into one sentence for him.

"Ah, I see," Carlos nodded his head, finally taking notice of Asteria’s uneasiness towards the subject. He grabbed an apple and cut it into eight thin slices. Taking one of the slices, he popped it into his mouth and chewed silently.

"You guys look busy," Asteria said. "Is there anything I can do to help? I consider myself a decent cook."

"No, no, no! You're a guest here! We can't possibly let you do that.” Carlos chuckled.

"I have no idea what I'm supposed to do for fun in this giant mansion anyway, I like to cook, and I'd like to not be completely useless," she said. "I'd be glad to help."

"Well...” Carlos gave the suggestion a thought. "I guess it can't hurt, right?" He gave her a small smile. "Sure, you can cook with us!"

"Alrighty," she said, standing up. "What do you need me to do?

(For some reason I imagine him with an accent lol)
