Carlos’s smile grew big at that statement.
"That's right," he whispered back to Asteria excitedly, making Martino narrow his eyes in suspicion. “And it would make quite the amazing prank.”
"Yes, but that doesn’t stop his playful nature.” Martino seethed. -
Asteria raised her eyebrows. "I don't see Quince as the playful type."
She turned back to Carlos, her eyes glowing with excitement. She whispered to him low enough so that Martino couldn't hear. "We still put the mango stuff in the soup. Then he grabs the "milk" to cool down his mouth but it's not milk. Cornstarch will help a little bit with the spiciness, but not nearly as much as milk, plus it's disgusting. Sound like a plan?" -
“Hehe, you're better at playing pranks than I am! And I'm the king of pranks.” Carlos chuckled, his bright eyes gleaming in excitement. “Of course we’re going to carry out that idea. How could we not?"
“Well, Quince is the playful type. However, many people think the opposite.” Martino grumbled. He then raised an eyebrow. “What are you two talking about?” -
"You'll find out later," Aster waved Martino off.
"Let's get started," she said to Carlos.
And so, they created Quince's dinner. They would act sneakily with everything, even the onions, which was already known to be going in the soup. They added a little extra water so that they'd use a bit of cornstarch in water as a thickener and then they'd use the rest for Quince. -
"And now, we serve this delicious dish!" Carlos announced, clapping his hands together.
“I feel like you two added in an unnecessary ingredient.” Martino commented. -
"What, you mean the cornstarch-water?" Asteria asked as she put the milk in the fridge. They were going to 'accidentally' switch around a glass of milk and the glass of cornstarch-water they used to thicken the soup. They had needed the milk for the soup as well. "That's a thickener. The soup was too thin. I use it whenever a make gravy instead of flour because I can never manage to make a good flour gravy."
-
“Cornstarch wate-? Give me that.” Martino sighed, snatching the glass from the fridge and shaking his head, letting out a frustrated sigh. “I see what you two are up to. Trying to pour this into Quince’s soup, eh?”
“You didn't say Sir Quince!” Carlos gasped, completely brushing off the fact that Martino had somewhat guessed what was going on. -
"Imagine if Quince had heard the disrespect," Asteria said, crossing her arms.
-
Martino gasped, almost dropping the glass. He quickly regained his strict posture, setting the glass down on the counter and reaching into his pocket. He pulled out a handkerchief and coughed into it, glaring at the two pranksters for what seemed like the millionth time that day.
“We shall never talk of that mistake again, got that?” The butler snapped.
“Hmm, As, what do you say to a bit of blackmail?” Hav wagged his eyebrows up and down, crossing his arms and shooting a smirk at Martino. -
"What does he have against us?" Aster asked. "We did put the cornstarch water in the soup, it's a thickener." She searched it up and showed Martino the google page. "Look at all those results for using it to thicken things."
-
“Hmph, then I suppose the starch would make a fine soup for our wonderfully, merciful boss.” Martino mumbled.
-
"Well then," she said, stuffing her phone back into her pocket, "let's bring this soup to Quince."
-
Hav nodded and picked up the bowl. Soon, the three left the kitchen.
Once they had reached the dining room, Carlos carefully placed the soup onto the table in front of Quince.
“Enjoy, sir!” He chirped, skipping away to watch Quince’s reaction in the corner of the room.
Quince raised an eyebrow at Carlos’s energy, but paid no heed to it and picked up his spoon, dipping it into the bowl and sipping the liquid off of the metal.
His face turned redder than a tomato at the hotness of the mango pickle. He choked and gagged, clear tears cascading down his cheeks.
"W..ater! W-" Quince gasped.
Martino just about passed out on the spot.
"YOU HEARD HIM. GET HIM A COOL DRINK!” -
"Milk is better," Asteria said as she set the glass in front of him.
-
Quince snatched the glass of white liquid and gulped it down before his face turned a light shade of green.
“EW, WHAT IS THIS?”
"SIR, NOOO-“
"BWHAHAHHAA, AS, LOOK AT THE LOOK ON HIS FACE!” Hav was practically in tears. Martino, who also had tears in his eyes, but not from laughter, was on the verge of dying at the sight. Quince was shrieking, banging his fists on the table and whatnot because of this terrible supper.
