After a while, Mabel came back in. "Oh no maestra!" she said. "You have barely eaten anything!"

"I'm full," Reyna admitted, and hugged Mabel hello. It was a sudden gesture. Reyna herself didn’t even plan to do it. She had just acted without considering the consequences.

Mabel hugged her back. "Let me look at that cut of yours," she said.

"Okay," Reyna said with no objection.

Mabel sat Reyna down on the bed and bustled into the bathroom, coming out with various medical things. "Padrona, whatever he does, I will be here," she said. "I may not be able to say much, but I can listen."

"Thank you," Reyna thanked her. "I really do appreciate it. Is there any way I can repay you for your kindness?"

"No payment," Mabel said. She finished fixing up Reyna.
Nickola had just finished the call that would arrange the arrival of this surprise. It would probably be a few days -
"Thank you," Reyna said again. Sincerely, she asked, "Can I trust you?" Reyna had a look in her eyes. Maybe Nickola had rubbed off on her a bit.

"Yes," Mabel said.

Reyna took a deep breath and let it out. "That's good to know," she said finally.

"I will come later with lunch," Mabel said.

"All right," Reyna said, and waved goodbye sorrowfully.

"And you know you can help yourself to anything in here, it is your room," Mabel as she walked out and shut the door behind her.

"Yes," Reyna mumbled to herself. Nickola's probably planning something disgusting, she thought, but she didn’t dwell on it.

Nickola was on his way to Reyna's room. The two rooms were finally finished. He wanted to show her. "Come with me, tesoro," he said. "I want to show you something."
