"Jewel no!" Adrian shouted. He tore the two apart and practically shoved the lot of them, excluding the demon, out the front door. He closed the door as a whoosh of cold air entered the house.
Adrian tore off his jacket. He wanted everything he had to his advantage available to him. His feathered wings spread like a dark black rose blossoming and reaching for the sun. He drew out a long knife. -
Jewel looked at the object she had in her hands. It was a piece of paper. She shoved it in her pocket and tried to see what was happening through the window.

Adrian swiped at the demon with his knife but the demon dodged it easily.
"Really," the demon laughed, "you'll have to try much harder than that." And with that he hit Adrian so hard he was hurled through the open doorway and over the porch.
Adrian used his wings to help him land on his feet. The black of his hair and wings vividly contrasted with the white of the bright snow outside. He watched as the hellion made his way across the threshold to the outside. -
Jewel gasped and started looking around for a weapon she could use.
"If only I had a chainsaw." she groaned.
Her eyes widened when she saw a chainsaw plop on the ground as if it came from the sky.
Jewel didn't think about what she was doing. She turned on the chainsaw and threw it at the demon. -
(Hey her abilities don't show up yet. I'll cue you in when they do, but it won't be for awhile. We'll just say she found a chainsaw in the shed.)
The demon lost his balance a bit but quickly regained his footing. It was as if he didn't have blood gushing out of his chest. He pulled the chainsaw out of himself easily and threw it aside, healing instantly.
Adrian raised himself a few feet from the ground then shot himself in the demon's direction, knocking him down but Adrian swooped upward a bit and landed on his feet. As the demon was moving to stand back up Adrian stabbed him in the chest with his knife and started pulling out a different knife.
The demon acted like he didn't have blood gushing put from his chest as he stood up.
"You should know better than that," the demon told Adrian with a chuckle. He yanked the knife out of his body, the flesh healing right away.
Adrian threw the knife at him. This knife was different. Inscribed with the strange symbols. The knife pierced his chest. The demon hissed and suddenly became a heap of black ash. -

Jewel ran up to Adrian and hugged him.
"I thought you were gonna get hurt!" -
Adrian wasn't used to being hugged. He hadn't been hugged since...no he didn't want to think about that. "Get packed up," he told her. "We're going. Now."

"Going? Going where?" Max asked Adrian as Jewel went to pack her bags.

"You should go back to bed," Adrian told the boy, leading him inside. "It's late."

Max sighed and went to his bed.
Jewel walked to where Adrian was standing. "I'm ready to go, lead the way." -
Adrian looked at her mom. "You should go back inside too," he said.

Jewels mom looked dazed. "Eh, normal night." she muttered and then went back inside the house -
