Jewel was alone in her own thoughts. She tried to recall what happened to her, but she couldn't.
She got on her feet and looked around. All around her were grey walls. She realized she must be unconscious.
"Hello Jewel."
Jewel whipped her head around and her jaw dropped.
It was her dad.
"Dad?! I thought you died?! Dad?!"
"Wake up Jewel" Her father said.
Jewel woke up and started gasping for air. -
"Hey sleepyhead, nice day for a swim," Adrian said, shivering. He had been wearing another jacket underneath the one that he had put on her so luckily she couldn't see his wings. "An ambulance is on the way."

Jewel screamed.
"Who the hell are you?! Were you the one who dragged me underwater? And why am I wearing someone jacket? Look smells like strawberries." -
*(omg autocorrect!) I meant ooooo not look. LMAO

"Whoa calm down!" Adrian said as he clapped his hand over her mouth. "First, my name is Adrian and I didn't drag you in, I saved you. Second, you are wearing my jacket because if you haven't noticed it's freezing both outside and in the water, and you got chilled worse than me. Third, your nose must be broken because leather smells like leather, not strawberries."

"Thank you for saving me, but the number 1 question, who ARE you?"

"And something else, where am I?"

"Next to the river that you almost drowned in. Like I said, there's an ambulance on the way," Adrian said. Then addressing her first question, he spoke more quietly, "I'm your Guardian."
Adrian looked up as he heard the ambulance's sirens and saw the large vehicle cross the bridge over to where they were. Medics hopped out of the van and ran over to them. -
"Guardian? W...w..wait! Hey!" Jewel said as a medic grabbed her arm.
Jewel slapped the medics hand.
"Leave me alone! I'm fine!" Jewel exclaimed.
"Drowning means you aren't fine." The medic said sternly.
Jewel stood up.
"What the heck is going on?! You know what, I'm done talking to you all." Jewel shouted as she started to run away. -
"You left your shoes!" Adrian called to her. He battled the medics who were trying to wrap blankets around him. Goodness be gracious he was going to have trouble getting her to believe a word he said.

"I don't need them!" Jewel yelled over her shoulder.
A few hours later, Jewel tried to find her way home.
"Ugh, why did I have to go to the lake today?"
"Hey pretty girl, how ya doing?"
Jewel whipped her head around and saw a big man.
She narrowed her eyes. "I'm a black belt in karate. You better not mess with me."
"Prove it." The man said as he stepped towards Jewel.
Jewel gulped. She didn't know any fighting skills. -
Adrian seemed to drop in between the girl and the man out of nowhere, as if he just suddenly fell from the sky and landed on his feet. He whipped out a knife, a normal knife, considering this was a human and not a demon. "Get away from her or I'll deal with you myself," he said, his face darkening. He had a look in his eyes that would put nearly anyone on their knees in fear.

Jewel's eyes widened.
"W...what the? Where did you come from?"
The man cracked his knuckles. "Alright little man, lets go then." -

"Your shoes," he said, tossing them carelessly to the girl. They'd only slow him down if he was holding them the entire time.
Adrian was much stronger and faster than the average human. The man could be easily dealt with anyway. He had fought demons twice his size before. He turned to face the man. "Ruffians first," he said with a slight now of his head and a smirk on his face.
