"I better be careful then!" Jewel exclaimed, giving Adrian a cheerful smile.
"Have you had dinner yet? If not, I could make you something." -
Adrian just stared at her in disbelief. "Why are you acting so cheery?" he asked. "You just found out that the devil wants you dead and that you're the one that could either save or destroy the world? And you're cheery?"
-
Jewels face turned dark. "After my dad died, and my mom started drinking, I would pretend everything was okay. I would stay strong for Max so he would turn out okay. No therapist could help me." Jewels face lit up.
"Now that I got all of that out, what would you like for dinner?" she said as she stood up. -
Adrian sat her back down
"I'll cook," he said. He walked towards the kitchen and stopped at the entrance. "You don't have any allergies I should be aware of do you?" He asked. -
"No, no I don't." She said as she grabbed the pillow once more.
"But I'm cooking tomorrow, got it?" She said with a sly grin. -
"Alright," he said in agreement. "Any food you're in the mood for?"
-
"Surprise me." She said as she ran her finger along the pattern of the pillow.
-
Adrian nodded and walked into the kitchen. He looked through the fridge and cupboards and the freezer to see what options he had. Soon he had an idea. He grabbed the pork sausage, the cabbage, the carrots, and the various spices he'd need.
-
Jewel started to get very curious. She put down the pillow and stood up.
As she walked around the house, she noticed stairs leading to what seemed to be a basement. -
As Adrian was walking to the stove he glanced out the entrance and didn't see Jewel on the couch like she had been just a few minutes ago. He walked out of the kitchen to look for her and to make sure he hadn't missed anything. He saw her heading down the stairs to the basement.
"No no no," he said half to himself half to her. He grabbed her and pulled her back up the stairs. "Please," he said, looking at her with pleading eyes, "please don't go down there unless I ask you." -
Jewel blushed. "A...A little too close Adrian." She stammered as she pulled away.
-
Adrian went back down the stairs and locked the basement door. He walked back upstairs and into the kitchen silently. She seemed set on reminding him of things he wanted to forget, even though she didn't know what those things were. He turned the stove on and put the meat in, adding the correct spices as well
He chopped up some ginger and put it in as well. Then he started cutting up the vegetables, stirring the sausage every once in awhile so that it would brown -
Jewel peeked into the kitchen. She hope she didn't make him upset.
She sighed and went back to the couch and began counting how many lines were on the pillow. -
Adrian had to wait until the meat was done cooking until he was able to put in the vegetables. He smelled the steam coming out of the pot the ginger made it smell very nice but it needed more salt. Instead of putting salt in he put soy sauce in, since he had forgotten to do that earlier and it contained a lot of salt anyway. Much better.
Once the meat was ready he put in the cabbage and carrots, stirring them in. He added some sriracha sauce to it, not much too much. He didn't know what Jewel's spice tolerance was. After stirring the pot up one last time he walked out of the kitchen. It technically wouldn't be ready until the cabbage was wilted, but he'd had it many times before it had and it tasted good with the crunch.
"I'm sorry for getting after you," Adrian said. "There's just things that I'd rather you didn't know." -
(When I was writing this, autocorrect decided to make it inappropriate. LMAO)
"It's okay, I was being nosy. So, what did you make?"
