The demon walked into the living room right as Katherine had closed the door. Adrian tore off his jacket. He wanted everything he had to his advantage available to him. His feathered wings spread like a dark black rose blossoming and reaching for the sun. He swiped at the demon with his knife but the demon dodged it easily.
"Really," the demon laughed, "you'll have to try much harder than that." And with that he hit Adrian so hard he was hurled through the door, breaking it down, and over the porch.
Adrian used his wings to help him land on his feet. The black of his hair and wings vividly contrasted with the white of the snow outside. He watched as the hellion made his way across the threshold to the outside. -
Katherine heard a thundering crash and grabbed a weed whacker, holding it at ready in case the demon should approach. She prayed that Adrian was alright.
-
Adrian raised himself a few feet from the ground then shot himself in the demon's direction, knocking him down but Adrian swooped upward a bit and landed on his feet. As the demon was moving to stand back up Adrian stabbed him in the chest with his knife and started pulling out a different knife.
The demon acted like he didn't have blood gushing put from his chest as he stood up.
"You should know better than that," the demon told Adrian. He yanked the knife out of his body, the flesh healing instantly.
Adrian threw the knife at him. This knife was different. Inscribed with strange symbols. The knife pierced his chest. The demon hissed and suddenly became a heap of black ash. -
Katherine had just rounded the corner, breathing heavily with the weed whacker at ready. She noticed Adrian and looked around. "Is he gone?"

Adrian nodded. "Get packed up, we're going," he said. "I'll try to clean.up the place."
-
-
"Okay," Katherine said, adrenaline still coursing through her veins. "What...was that thing?"
-
"Demon," Adrian said. He searched for a broom and started sweeping the ash up. "By the way, where's my jacket? The one that I put on you when I pulled you out of the water. That one's my favorite."
-
"Oh, sorry," Katherina said, blushing. "It's uhm...over there."
She lifted it free of her jackets, which toppled ungracefully to the floor. She handed it over to him. "Here." -
Adrian nodded. "Thanks," he said as he put it on. He started fixing the furniture that had toppled over. "Get packing, we don't want more to come."
-
Katherine nodded and flew to her room, seizing the darkest backpack she had and stuffing it up. "What do we need?" she called out.
-
"Just pack what you need," Adrian answered. "Probably just clothes and whatever other things you think you might need like your toothbrush, and things like that." He looked at the broken-down door. He leaned it up against the frame as best he could, but it didn't do much to take away from the fact that there had been a fight in the house.
-
Katherine threw in her toiletries and her clothes. She took a bar of soap and some hotel sized shampoos. Hey, you never know how long an adventure will take! She didn't want to go smelly and unprepared. She threw in a few other items and tucked her purse inside. That thing was like a fun-sized Narnia.
-
"You almost done?" Adrian called up the stairs after he had finished getting the place as neat as he could.
